Conclusion
Using geizhals as our price research tool, we see that offers for a 2 x 8GB sets of TridentX DDR3-2400 start around 190 Euros across the EU. While the price is in the right ballpark, there are still RipjawsX DDR3-2133 CL9 and Geil's DDR3-2400 CL11 options a dozen of Euros cheaper. Since we reckon that all these kits share the same ICs, what you are actually paying for with the TridentX are the looks and guaranteed CL10 at 1200MHz.
The 8GB TridentX modules were never meant to be a benchmarker's memory, so it would be wrong to expect them pull overclocking miracles. Instead, they make for a very strong competitor in the segment of high-end daily computing where they tick all the right boxes. While we still believe there is room to improve, at the moment high-density stuff doesn't get any better than this, this is why we want to award G.Skill's 16GB TridentX set with our maximum rating of five stars.
