Every now and then, the idea about the maximum amount of RAM one can put into a computer gets redefined with that number being progressively doubled. Now, time has come to make another step as 8GB modules are starting to make their entry to the stage.


It is obvious that high density memory and overclocking are not meant to go terribly well together. In fact nearly all 8GB DDR3 modules we ever came across on the forums were reported to struggle past DDR3-1600. Hence when we saw G.Skill offering sets rated as high as DDR3-2400, we couldn't resist and ordered one to give it a shot.

Looking at the specs, it's not hard to see why this memory had attracted our attention. Only a handful of 4GB module variations will safely run DDR3-2400 with timings of 10-12-12; for modules of twice the capacity such feats are simply unheard of. Honestly, we didn't expect the progress to go so far so quickly.
