Toshiba MQ01ABD100 with 1.0 Terabyte capacity showed performance figures which were above the average of our test field. Looking at the sequential numbers we see that they quite a lot higher then the competition. On the other hand the random read and write values are a bit disappointing. Unfortunately in the random benchmarks the MQ01ABD100 falls back until it hits the rank second to last. | - Sequential write performance - Performance sequential read | - Random write performance - Random read performance
Life expectancy / Power Consumption / Noise Level | + | -
Never the less a MTBF (Meantime Between
Failure) of 600'000 hours is very good for a hard drive in this segment. Also
the noise level is good and we categorize it as subjectively very silent. Furthermore positive is the fact that the MQ01ABD100 consumes way less power than other drives. 1.85 Watts whilst accessing, is a very good value and also 0.55 Watts in idle is economical. |

Recommendation | + | - | |
If you're looking for a 2.5 inch data collector that comes with a good price per Terabyte ratio you definitely wont be wrong going for the MQ01ABD100. We can also recommend this drive for a fileserver or a NAS. The low power consumption lets you save money when you have a bunch of disks running all day long. | - Data gatherer - NAS - Fileserver | - System disk |
