Principle
We assume that most of our readers are not familiar with the term optical SmartHub. Basically this devices is a WLAN router with an integrated optical disc drive from which content can be streamed. Furthermore it also allows data to be exchange between different devices which have been connected to the SmartHub. Generally all DLNA capable devices can communicate with the SmartHub.
Features
The most important feature about the SmartHub is the possibility to share content. In this regard it doesn't matter if it is pictures, music or videos you want to save or stream. For example you can put a DVD into the drive and then stream it to your smartphone. The only thing you need to do for is, you have to download the Samsungs SmartHub App and connect your device to the SmartHub. As you might expect there is support for the three major players in this business, iOS, Android and Windows Phone 7.
It's also very practial that the SmartHub comes with a USB port. If you connect an external hard drive to the thing you can easily share it's content to devices connected. You can also create a backup which will be save on the hard drive or USB stick, if you should choose to connect one of these. Smasung even thought of implementing a permission system that sensitive data can be protected.
We have mentioned quite a few features so far, but there is more. If you like the SmartHub enables sharing content between tablets and smartphones directly. Furthermore it doesn't matter from which manufacturer the connected device is. This only thing which important is, that the SmartHub app is installed. Therefore it is for example possible to share data between an iPad and a Samsung Galaxy Tab directly.
