Conclusion

With the Razer Lycosa you'll really have a very well manufactured gaming keyboard which can be used without installing any drivers. To take advatage of all the functions you'll need to install the delivered software. The esthetic design with the matt-black keys reminds with deactivated background illumination of a F-117 Nighthawk. As soon as you activate the background illumination the keys start to shimmer in a decent, deep blue. Therefore we would wish that the numbers and letters were a bit better readable because even in the dark you sometimes have to look twice until you know which key your pressing. Of course people who are capable of the touch system don't care about this point.

The very flat constructions allows a comfortable and ergonomic attitude. The keys react very quickly and they also have a good pressure point. Furtermore the keys rubber coated surface is practical when you tend to have sweaty hands, in this case you'll still have good grip. The possibility to remove the hand rest might be practical for LAN-Parties where you only have limited space on the table.

Programming macros can be done easily and quickly with the delivered software. Also adapting profiles to your personal gusto is childrens play.
The additional connectors do their job and you do not need to install any software to use them.
Plus points the Razer Lycosa earns with an anti ghosting functionality as well as a gaming mode. Anti Ghosting means that you can press as many keys as you like at the same time and your computer wont start beeping, it will just interprete everything in the order you pressed the keys. For gaming the Windows key can be disabled. Furthermore the player can switch between ten different profiles. Unfortunately we haven't been able to use this feature during the test phase because the keyboard did not react properly. Furthermore the quality of the integrated headphone- and microphone connectors was quite poor.

The Razer Lycosa gaming keyboard can be bought at Digitec.ch to a price of CHF 110.- (ca. EUR 68.-)
