Conclusion
This fight is litterally a clash of Titans. The GTX Titan as well as the GTX 780 Ti are some of the fastest single GPU graphics cards money can buy. Let's have a look at the performance values we gathered in this article and let's see what differences we can find.
Comparing the
GeForce GTX 780 Ti with the
GeForce GTX Titan shows us a rather clear result but the two cards are definitely not worlds apart. Looking at performance
differences a bit closer shows, that
the GTX 780 Ti is about 8 percent faster on average than the GeForce GTX Titan, when it comes to ingame performance. The biggest performance
differences can be found with Metro Last Light, in this case, frame rates are about
13
percent higher on a GeForce GTX 780 Ti. On the other side there is the
Battlefield 3, where the GTX 780 Ti is only 5 percent quicker. In case of theoretical benchmarks we see about the same picture although the results are - as ususal - a little bit more consistent. In 3DMark the GeForce GTX 780 Ti is about 7 percent quicker and in Unigine Heaven 4.0 there are 9 percent inbetween the two cards.
At this point we also want to have a closer look at power consumption. If we
equip our test system with a GeForce GTX Titan we see that it pulls 47
Watts from the plug, whereas the same setup with a GTX 780 Ti needs 48 Watt.
Under load conditions there is an actual difference between the two
cards. Once we plugged the GeForce GTX Titan card into the test system
power consumption goes up to 306 Watt and with the GTX 780 Ti power consumption
is at 333 Watt. In idle the two cards are almost identical in terms of power
consumption and in case of load power consumption we can see, that the 780 Ti
clocks a little bit higher, which explains the difference of about 10 percent.
At the resolution tested the GTX 780 Ti is 8 percent quicker than the GeForce GTX Titan. In case of the GTX Titan you should keep in mind, that it comes with 6 Gigabyte memory onboard and not "just" 3 Gigabyte like the 780 Ti. In
other words this means, that the GTX Titan will have an advantage at ultra high
resolutions combined with extra high levels of detail. Nervertheless the GTX 780 Ti is overall measurably faster and it will be interesting to run this test again, when there are first GTX 780 Ti graphics cards with 6 Gigaybte of memory.
