Connectors and I/O

Totally ASUS provided the Z87-A with six angled SATA ports which should be enough for any office PC, gaming system or workstation. Thanks to the Z87 chipset all of the six SATA ports are natively wired to the PCH, which means all the six ports support 6Gbps transfer rates. Since this is a very aggressively priced motherobard, there are almost no additional features. You will for example not find power/reset buttons or any special features regarding overclocking.

Totally you'll find five fan headers on the Z87-A which is more than enough, to provide a well equipped office pc or midrange system with fresh air. The fanheaders are located around the CPU socket as well as at the bottom edge of the mainboard.

Looking at the external connectors directly at the back-panel ASUS provided the Z87-A with four USB 3.0 ports, two USB 2.0 connectors, one gigabit ethernet port, an optical out as well as an analogue audio panel. Furthermore there is also an HDMI output, a DisplayPort a D-Sub and a DVI port.
