It's Finally time to present the side panels - they have bugged me for quiet some time, but they are finally done. I'll start of this post by posting some old pictures of the progress.


I cut open a new hole in the right sidepanel and made the left one bigger then the original.




A round with the saw and then filed the edges down.


Finished of with some sanding.

I'm all happy, finally time to soon present a major feature for this project Custom GLASS side panlens. I visit the local glazier. No problem with ordering the glass

(expensive but no issue).
Then it hit me, like beeing hit by Mike Tyson. Drilling holes for mounting is 30Usd/hole! That would be 300-400usd Just for holes. It's not worth it.
So i thought - I just have to glue the glass to the side panel - I order the glass.

One week later and the glass is done.
Hmm, but the glue, won't it be all smudged out and look c r a p? Yes it will...
So i'm thinkin that i'll just mount the glass on the inside of the panels - Won't give me the look that i want but it's good enough.
Problem again - The glass is made to be on the outside, not inside,m which means that the glass is to wide, it won't fit. So what do i do? I try to grind or "sand" the
glass down with a knife sharpening stone. After a more then 3 hours I've gotten the glass 1-2mm smaller... This won't work.

I turn to my more experienced friends Laine and MetallicAcid for some advice. Laine came up with the idea to cut the case frame to make the panel fit - so away i go.

Done with the cuttin, time for a test mount with double sided tape. The glass is "to thick" and i can't get the side panel on, the glass hits the cpu-cooler. Back to square one.
What about the right sidepanel? It was made wrong bu the glazier - to small. I do get a new peice of glass - but still, getting tired of these sidepanels now.


I undergo my shoulder surgery and can't mod for over 2 months.
When i'm finally able to work on the project again im thinkin "Fck it" and attach the glass on the outisde with glue (an elastic glue). I start of by mounting it with small points just by the edge of the glass - I doesnt show, can't thell that the glass is glued.

I then glue around the glass on the outside, creating a "frame". Yo do see the glue if you get up and look at the edge from 5cm away, but it's not smudged out, looks good. And i'm happy!

Regarding the side panel honestly I really like it! Looks very well done and the shape it's similar to the design of the case itself..fits perfectly!

Reading your story it sounds a bit like it wasn't the worst thing to have kind of like a break. To me the side panel looks very nice as well!

Thank's, yep a break seems like it was needed.

But now the final images are taken, and it feels great. Some changes where made a long the way, because some things looks better when you think of it and sketch. But when you see the final product, it might not look as good any more.

Modifications:
Case -
* re-painted the case frame in matte black.
* Cut up holes in the bottom for better airflow.
* Made the original window bigger and put in Real Galss.
* Made a new window in right side panel adding a window out of Real Glass.
* Drilled a hole and mounted a new power button in the front.
* Removed fan grill at the back.
* Custom made aluminium panels covering the motherboard tray, short side of PSU and panels which covers the cables and a mounting plate for the SSDs. SSDs are mounted with Magnets.
Everything using carefully chosen screws.
* painted the panels matte black.

Motherbord -
* Removed yellow details and painted heatsinks matte black.
* Removes all the stickers.
* Removes Audio boost plate.

SSDs -
* Removed the original black color.
* Brushes the aluminium casing to get a finish which matches the case.
* Custom vinyls

GPU -
* Removed the shroud and fans.
* Painted the heatsink matte black.
* Removed the anodising of the backplate and then brushed it to get it to match the finish of the case.

CPU-cooler -
* Removed nickelplating on top fin and repainted the top to make it match the gpu backplate.

Fans -
* Heatshrink to cover the colored cables.
* Custom vinyls.

Cables -
* New power button with custom cables.
* Custom length cables sleeved by Icemodz
