Need new Tablet+Dock convertible #1
Hi Guys.

i found one to buy my (old) Asus Transformerbook Tx300Ca with an i7-3317U and now i'm looking for a new one.

I'd love a 13.3" or 12" i'm kinda sure 11.6" would be to small.
4th Generation Haswell CPU something like the i7-4500U or 4550U (Hd4400 vs Hd5000)

But the Problem is there isn't much out, at least it seems that way. The only thing i could find was:
Asus Transformerbook T300LA (which is 1.1kg instead of 950g Tx300ca) (HD4400)
HP SPectre 13 x2with an i5-4202Y (HD4200)(990g)(4G modem)

So, i dislike the weight of the Asus because my 950g are already way to heavy. The design is nice! So are the USB ports on the Tab (atm TX300CA only has audio jack + micro HDMI -.- and MicroSD which i dont use) OH and the keyboard now seems to work via Bluetooth! yay! The HP doesn't have any USB ports on the tab itself

The Asus has a 50WH battery(said to do 6h video) and the HP 33Wh +18Wh dock (said to do 10h *normal* use)
Asus:Nur Tablet: 34.2 x 21.6 x 1.15 cm 1.1kg
HP: Nur Tablet: 34,0 x 21,6 x 1,11 cm 0.99kg

it's just my fear that the 4202Y won't have enough power for me. Currently on my 3317U when i put it into PowerSafe mode its often a PITA performance wise. But the 11W TDP and 4.5W SDP would be nice.

Do you now any rumours about other Tablets which will release soon ?
I heard that there's gonna a remake of the Lenovo Thinkpad Helix with an Haswell CPU, but thats also 11" i had one in my hands and it is very small.

(P.S i tought i'd post this in the Notebook section as the Smartphone/Tablet section looks more for Android than Windows. If that's wrong please move the thread.)

Ok then, but I'm still curious what you're going to get yourself

So after a few weeks i can say this:
It's waaaay lighter than my Asus tx300ca so you can use it as a tablet!
the 4:3 Screen.... meh... it's not as wide as 16:9 but its's higher. For normal usage thats okay... for videos it's still acceptable. It's more handy like that!
It doesn't have a network port, only wireless (lucky i haven't needed one in the last 6 months ^^)
The pen is awesome. You can use it for navigation in Tablet mode without keyboard, with fireGesutres addon for Firefox that works excellent, or for notes on PDF files/presentations.
The bad parts are the Performance. Surfing the web/PDF reading/idle with low brightness will be about 6-7.5 hours battery. Heavy excel work will bring about 4.5-5.5 hours.
The throttling! the i5-4500U works nice for short peaks or low load stuff. If you have a longer load it will not only throttle because of CPU heat but also because of the case heat! (my case never got over 45°C on the back. While the SoC got 90°C Peak and then dropped till 60 and less because the Case got to hot) i.e Prime95 runs with 2 cores @2.6ghz and reaches 90°C Core in 1.5 minutes After this Thermal throttling will kick in, reducing the CPU clock from 2.6 to 1.8ghz over roughly 2.5 minutes, after that the Power Limit Throttling kicks in again because of the Case Temperature and it will drop from 1.8ghz to 1.3ghz which made the case cool enough to let the cpu hit 90°C again.

Re: Need new Tablet+Dock convertible #9
Overall it sounds like it is the right descision for you?

The throttling appears to be a little boomer ... but then on the other hand it's kind of like an illusion zu expect that the TDP of this CPU can be taken care of in such a slim form factor.
