The Dragon (Scratch build) #1

Hello Everyone
I would like to share my latest scratch build called DRAGON,
DRAGON build is full support and sponsored by MSI
and main Distributor of MSI Indonesia, PT Alfa Artha Andhaya.

Hardware’s Specification:
Mobo MSI Z97 GAMING 5
Procie Intel Core I5-4670K
VGA MSI R9-280 GAMING 3G
CPU Cooler CM NEPTON 280L
SSD-PLEXTOR 128GB
RAM Avexir Blitz 1.1 MSI Gaming Dragon
PSU Bitfenix Fury 650w Gold
LED Strip Bitfenix Alchemy Red

The Design:
The Idea is to build the case for show case in multi platform Mini ITX, Mini ATX and ATX.
I ‘ve design the DRAGON to be an open air case, work with Sketch up and V-ray..here we go:

The Build

Mostly I’ll use many size acrylics and aluminum's for this project
10 mm acrylics for based and 3 mm to 6mm for detailing.

a lot of manual tools will seen in this build, I’m an Old School modders

As a center of DRAGON ..that also base for motherboard and other parts, I use 1cm acrylic.
For mold and cutting pattern, 9 pieces A4 letter were used..quite large.

Cut the acrylic board to fit scroll saw machine

For detail cut.. I use scroll saw. Breaking 4 cutting saw when cut this head.
No finger cut ..

Detailing and finishing cutting edge,
actually not much to be sanding and finishing if the right cutting saw being use.

Hi and a very warm welcome to ocaholic WaroQ!

That is one great looking project you're on! Can you maybe tell how you use the jigsaw with acrylic glass? The last time I tried that, the acrylic glass started melting around the blade and then it gets stuck.

How that happen..? acrylic melt? I'm never find that experience when cut acrylic.
Usually my cutting saw that broken because of the heat or I push it to much.
maybe the quality of the acrylic different in each brand.

This EPIC build is just amazingly beautiful! I had no idea that Avexir had that MSI Dragon RAM. I will have to research that more! I too have run into the acrylic melting somewhat when trying to cut it. I found that the more fine of a blade that is used the more the chance for the acrylic to melt. It seems counter intuitive but I have had great success using jigsaw blade made for wood with fewer Teeth Per Inch (how they are sold in the USA). Please keep the build log updated as this build just blows my mind!

Yeah ... these MSI Dragon RAM look bloody awesome! When I first saw them at this years Computex I couldn't stop staring at them

Thanks for the hint with the thicker jigsaw blade. I really didn't think about that! Maybe it's not that counter intuitive after all. Considering that a thinner blade is going to get hot quicker by the friction, then a thick one actually makes sense. Same goes for the number of teeth per inch, the lower that number the less friction.
