Cases
Today at TestFreaks we will be looking at another PC case from Cougar called the Solution. This is a budget mid-tower case that can accommodate Micro-ATX and ATX sized motherboards. With the ability to house up to eight fans this case should keep any PC build nice and cool. One drawback is the Solution only comes with one 120 mm fan, otherwise you’ll need to supply the rest of the cooling which adds to the cost of your PC build.

Cougar made its debut in 2007 and quickly became a recognized name among computer enthusiasts. The German firm primarily focuses on cases, power supplies and fans, and this is the first time we'll be taking a look at one of Cougar's products at DV Hardware. The focus of this review is the Cougar Spike, a mini tower case designed for gaming-oriented Micro-ATX builds. Priced at $39.99, this is a low budget case that promises relatively great expandability in a space-saving design.
Cases
The Spike from Cougar is a mini tower case supporting only microATX motherboards. Targeted to gamers who like to carry their PCs to LAN parties, it comes with the insanely low price tag of USD 40, although you can find it for as low as USD 35. Let's see if it is worthwhile buying this bargain.
Cases
There are a lot of different sizes of PC cases available today. Some prefer huge rigs where they can pack everything possible into giant chassis, for others space saving designs are more attractive. The German company, Cougar is back with another option for gamers looking to put their components into a new micro-sized case. Enter the Spike which is a Micro ATX form factor light weight case. The Spike is Cougar's smallest case to date. We are going to see how the features and performance stack up on the Micro sized newcomer.
Cases
The average selling price on a PC case today in North America is right around $80, but today we are going well below that price point. The Cougar Spike micro-ATX chassis has an MSRP of $39.99, but it is available right now from Newegg for $24.99 shipped after a $5 rebate! For $24.99 you might be wondering what you get and to be honest, it's not half bad!
Cases
At $34.99 there is very little to complain about, the COUGAR Spike has a good amount of expansion, support for high end graphics cards and it can accommodate a single SSD, which is necessary in today’s market. With a few alterations, the Spike could be one of the best options in its price range, but even in it's current form it is one of the most affordable cases on the market that has impressive features considering the low cost.
Cases
With their Spike chassis Cougar look to give us solid build quality and key features in a compact form factor with low price. This could be an ideal purchase for those looking to build a gaming system and put as much of their budget as possible into internal components.
Cases
The Cougar Spike mini gaming tower case is a very budget friendly case, but it offers a few items you might not typically find at the lower end of the price scale. In addition to having a decent number of drive bays for a mini case, it has room for four 120mm cooling fans, a front panel USB 3.0 connection, and the matte black paint job covers all internal and external surfaces.

It's been far too long since we saw a Cougar chassis in the eTeknix office, but I'm happy to say that they have graced us with their presence once again, for those of you who missed the older Cougar reviews you can read up on the robust Cougar Evolution and the very funky, if somewhat loudly styled Cougar Challenger.
Cougar has been on the market since 2007 and in terms of chassis and components manufacturers that makes them pretty new to the game, but that's still long enough to have given them plenty of experience with the modern demands and needs of the PC market and they've already proven them selves capable of build a rock solid product, with a unique visual twist in the past, lets hope they can offer us a repeat performance today and that they haven't lost any of the unique visual flair that sets the Cougar brand apart from many others.
“COUGAR is particularly targeting enthusiast gamers who not only demand state-of-the-art PC chassis and highly efficient power supplies, but also want to express their dynamic gaming lifestyle with reliable quality products.” – www.cougar-world.com
The chassis I'm looking at today is the Spike, a mini gaming tower design that is set to offer a solution for a mid to high performance gaming rig with a space saving compact chassis design, a tough part of the market to crack in deed given that everyone from Silverstone to Bitfenix has a compact solution, although not all within the same motherboard as the Spike, either way this should be an interesting review, so lets get started and see just what the Spike has to offer.
