Since the 800D Corsair have cemented their place in chassis design with impressive models at each point. Today though the review NDA lifts and we are back at the enthusiast end of the case market with the Obsidian 900D. Can Corsair meet, or exceed the quality, design and features of the 800D? lets find out.
Cases
It has taken a while, but today Corsair formally announced their new top model chassis, the Obsidian 900D. One of the largest, most impressive enclosures we have had the pleasure of testing in our lab, the 900D raises the bar to new levels – but at least with our sample, we also saw evidence that Corsair may have some challenges to overcome in order meet its own standards. Nevertheless, the 900D may well be the most important chassis released this year and we examined every inch of it, not to mention running it through our standard tests in order to determine cooling and noise performance.

As far back as i can remember myself i always liked to have my systems installed inside full tower PC cases not only because i really wanted the extra space so i could mount hardware with ease but also because they offered the largest number of 5.25" drive bays possible something which made it very easy for me to install a CD/DVD-ROM and a fan controller and still have room left to fit other 5.25" sized devices as they came through the door. Unfortunately since everything tends to get smaller in size i can't say that PC case manufacturers have focused enough in producing high quality and feature rich full towers so when Corsair announced their plans to release the successor to the already great Obsidian 800D which has been amongst my favorite PC cases of all time i was very intrigued. Then again so were countless others out there and so although Corsair launched the 900D roughly 4 months ago due to the record sales numbers they had not a single one to spare and so we had to wait until almost three weeks ago to receive our very own sample which has been on our test bench ever since.

The Corsair 900D is a chassis that needs very little introduction, it is one of the great lords of the chassis world and has been ever since it was first created. It is huge, it is expensive and it packs more features than most anything else on the market. It’s the prime example of what Corsair can do and while we’ve seen it at many trade shows and gaming events, packed to the brim with water-cooled graphics cards, we never really get to take a closer look at what it has to offer, nor are you really allowed to touch other people’s 900D builds as they’re often worth thousands of pounds.
Our build isn’t going to be an epic water cooling rig, we here at eTeknix have seen that, what we want to do is take a good look at the chassis, not the systems people put inside it. At £299 each, the 900D is a far cry from cheap, and it is even further away from the kind of tech your average consumer will have use for. It’s also incredibly big, so big that most desks wouldn’t be tall enough or deep enough to accommodate it! This chassis is the reserve of the enthusiast market, those looking for something crazy. Or in Corsairs own words, the 900D is “understated overkill”.
Just look at the specifications below, five radiator mounts, two of which are capable of housing 480mm radiators, fifteen fan mounting locations, even more if you mount push/pull fans on your radiators. Then we have nine hard drive bays, with room for fifteen bays if you purchase additional cages, four 5.25″ bays, ten expansion bays and room for not one, but two power supplies. To put it another way, this chassis has room for an insane amount of components!

Five years ago if you were on the market for a case there were really only a few directions to go. More recently this has changed considerably; there are so many manufactures that weren’t even in the market five years ago. One of those manufactures is Corsair, moved into the market with a very impressive 800D and has been slowly filling out their product lineup from then on. The Obsidian Series 350D that I will be taking a look at today is the first mid tower from the Obsidian Series. With styling from the popular 800D we know it looks great, but the only way to find out where it stands otherwise is to look at it more in depth.
Cases
I have always been a fan of Corsair cases. Corsair just gets it, their cases are elegant and don’t have any of the extras that users will simply not use. The Obsidian Series is the top of the line case series from Corsair and today we are taking a look at the Obsidian Series 350D case. The idea of this case is simple, take all of the best parts of the very popular 800D and 900D cases and put that into a micro ATX case. Micro ATX builds are great as many micro ATX motherboards offer the same features as full sized ATX motherboards, yet take up less space. This means a smaller case to lug around to LAN parties. Is the Corsair Obsidian Series 350D case perfect for your next micro ATX build? Read on as we find out!

Silence, clean air, loaded with features, handles six hard drives with ease. Does this sounds like the description of the top of the line case from a boutique builder, well you would be wrong. Legit Reviews takes a look at the latest mid-tower case from Corsair, the Obsidian Series 550D. The Corsair Obsidian Series 550D was engineered for enthusiasts, but the designers didn't forget about noise reduction and sound isolation.

A few years ago when I sat at Corsair’s press conference where they announced they were going to be making more than just memory I was a little skeptical. Many companies did the same thing, just rebranding OEM products. Corsair was different, all of their products were original and they said they wanted to be in the top 3 of each product category. They definitely surprised many people and have some of the best cases, cooling solutions and gaming gear. Today I am taking a look at the 550D Mid Tower Case that is part of Corsair’s Obsidian Series. The 550D is made for noise reduction and sound isolation. It features front and side panels that are fully lined with sound-damping material, top and side panels that have their own sound-insulated vent covers, three included 120mm cooling fans, USB 3.0 support and much more. Read on as we check out the Obsidian Series 550D case from Corsair!
