Much of modern day and future technology is focusing on making products smaller and smaller, yet still completely functional and easy to use. For personal computing, the thinking is reverse, as more people prefer to have mid-sized or XL-sized cases and builds for full functionality. It makes sense, and until recently, mini builds were typically utilized as NAS units, home servers, and/or HTPCs. Still, the price of “getting smaller” meant the consumer more often than not had to pay a premium over just making a standard mid-tower build.
The Deep Silence 1, also known as DS1, is the first mid-tower case from the German manufacturer, Nanoxia. It features foam everywhere to reduce the noise produced by the computer, and it has eight expansion slots, allowing you to install up to four high-end video cards, as long as you have a compatible motherboard. Let's see if this new release is worth our recommendation.
Fractal Design is known for creating computer chassis with an emphasis on silent cooling. The company has gathered a loyal following that appreciates the stylish design, quality materials and good performance of their products. We have frequently been very positive about their chassis, and some time ago the fourth edition of their "Define" flagship chassis was released, the R4.
