When I mention the Cooler Master Silencio 550, the first thing that comes to mind is probably the movie "Mulholland Drive". In the film, there is an eerie theater by the name of Club Silencio. Actually, that is about all I can tell you, because as someone who is in Electrical Engineering, I have actually never seen the movie in question -- for one thing, we all know engineers never ever go outside, do not stray more than three feet away from our computers, and has never met a girl before -- so hitting the cinema is unsurprisingly out of the question. (Actually, it was probably because I was eleven years old when it was released.) With that in mind, I got some bad news for you. If you are into eerie theaters and whatnot, then the Silencio 550 is going to be pretty disappointing. On the other hand, for the rest of you out there, I don't think Cooler Master actually intended to allude to the psychological thriller, but rather a modified version of the word, "silence". In that case -- no pun intended -- whether you are into quiet computing or an avid fridge enthusiast, the Cooler Master Silencio 550 wants you to take it seriously as a new contender in the rising market silent PC chassis. Following the footsteps of runaway successes like Antec's Performance One series and Fractal Design Define line of cases, is the new kid on the block cutting into the pie everyone is after? Après une série HAF (« High Air Flow ») très complète, c'est désormais la gamme Silencio qui s'enrichit au fur et à mesure. Après le Silencio 550, puis le Silencio 450, voici maintenant le haut de gamme : le Silencio 650. Comme ses deux petits frères, sa conception a été pensée pour les configurations silencieuses. Pour ce faire, le constructeur utilise abondamment de la mousse acoustique pour réduire les nuisances sonores. Bien entendu, qui dit « silence » dit ventilateur à faible rotation, ce qui est bien le cas de ce boîtier. De plus, il embarque un rhéobus qui propose deux positions : 7 ou 12 V (entre 700 et 1200 tpm).
Today we introduce to you the flagship of Cooler Master's Silencio range: The 650 model. We already saw the prototype at Cebit 2012 and the specification list was impressive. Cooler Master promised us an integration of a fan controller, a hot swappable bay, a selection option of the boot drive. In a typical Cooler Master design and retailing at a moderate price tag. It's predecessor, the Silenco 550 was a decent silent case, but had a few shortcomings, especially the cable management was a rough ride due to the small clearance between the motherboard tray and the side panel and a bit too small cutouts in the motherboard panel. However for a 70 euro case it was a great addition to the silent Silencio enclosure range for Cooler Master. The new Silencio 650 model, due to the extra features retails at plus minus 110 euros, time to stop the chit chat and open the box.
