In recent years computer hardware has been developing at an amazing rate. But whilst much attention is given to new graphics technologies and new CPUs it seems that system enclosures are often left without much time in the limelight. However, one such case demands time in the forefront, with both its audacious aesthetics and its plethora of features, the InWin Maelstrom demands attention.

What do you look for in a case and what is the most you are willing to spend? Today's case isn't exactly high end and to match that it doesn't have all of the features and extras you would expect if you were shelling out cash in the €100+ range. System builders and budget gamers this one is for you, Thermaltake have released the Spacecraft VF-I Mid-Tower PC Case model VN60001W2Z and online retailers are listing it between €50~€65 and Benchmark Reviews has got an early peek at it. For that price you get a sturdy little case with a small side window, tool free drive mounting, removable air intake filters, room for video cards up to 320mm long, room for CPU coolers up to 168mm tall and also room for a 120.2 (240mm) watercooling radiator in the roof. This should prove to be an interesting review so please read on.

Today we will be looking at a new mid-tower case from Cooler Master, the Silencio 550. As the name suggests, the Silencio 550 is a chassis aimed at those who require quiet operation. Hopefully Cooler Master can achieve this while retaining their usual level of build quality.

There’s one thing about this case that I like right off the bat. Instead of designing an I/O panel into the front or top bezel of the case, Cooler Master sprung for a removable 3.5” bay device with eSATA, USB, and audio jacks. If this were a swankier case, I’d probably have a problem with it, but for cases of this simple design and price range, I think it’s perfect and mod-friendly. So often, when you’re looking at third-party bay devices, they include redundant audio jacks or other functions that the case already has covered (and since when do they not?) so the fact that Cooler Master included one that you can just yank out is downright innovative.

Usually high-end cases are the ones that attract all the excitement, but the majority of people will be looking for a well-priced mid tower case like the Cooler Master Elite 430. Cooler Master's newest addition to the Elite series retains an identical interior build existing since the Elite 370, but gave it a unified paint job and new exterior shell on the RC-430-KWN1 model. The Elite 430 is small and light, yet maximizes interior space to fit even the longest graphic cards. This new release is aimed to be competitive among the mid tower market, Benchmark Reviews investigates whether the Cooler Master 430 succeeds or not.

Silverstone have been designing some of the industries most appealing chassis for the last decade and at KitGuru we were always fans of the Fortress and Temjin series. The Raven 02 in particular has been a favourite in our offices for the last year as it combines subtle and attractive design with class leading ‘vertical’ airflow.
