Today we are going to look at the Node 605 from Fractal Design which is designed to be used primarily for home theatre PC builds. It is part of the same range as the Node 304 that we looked at recently which we found to be a very competent product. We did feel that it was slightly over-priced when compared to the competition, though, so we are hoping that the Node 605 will offer superior value for money.

Le but outre l’esthétique ?

Not that long ago we took a look at NZXT’s Phantom 820 case. This case took the best parts of NZXT’s original Phantom and combined them with the best parts of their own Switch 810 case. We loved the case and even gave it our Recommended Award. With a pricetag of $249.99 the Phantom 820 may be a little too expensive for some people. At CES we were shown the Phantom 630, which seemed to be like the little brother to the Phantom 820. While NZXT explained that this is a less expensive Phantom it has a lot of new features that are not in the 820. Some of these features include dual SSD mounts behind the motherboard tray, three included 200mm fans, three removable hard drive cages, and a new motherboard tray design. Can NZXT release a new Phantom this soon and still impress? Read on as we find out...

One of the first things that we noticed with the PC-N1 is that Lian Li flipped the motherboard orientation. The CPU and chipset cooler is now located on the bottom of the case with large ventilation ports on both ends of the case. That obviously means that the I/O ports are now on the top of the PC-N1 case. On the front of the PC-N1 you have the brand name and the lone USB 2.0 port. Just above the front on the top cover you'll find the power button. The power button has been completely redesigned since the original prototype was shown at CES 2013...

The introduction of high quality PC cases with lots of features, spacious interiors and designs to match the above from the top manufacturers such as Lian-Li, Corsair, Cooler Master, Thermaltake and Silverstone is something that all of us more or less expect from companies that have been around the block for many years and pretty much know what consumers want. However what is least expected by everyone is when a brand new manufacturer emerges and manages almost with no delay to design and manufacture a PC Case that can rival those manufactured by the leaders in the field. Nanoxia is not really new since they've been around for quite a few years manufacturing top notch fans and fan controllers but it wasn't until a few months back that they started the design and manufacture of PC cases such as the Deep Silence 1 we reviewed a while back. Well it seems that they are here to stay so after the very successful test run of their Deep Silence 1 Midi Tower PC Case they released the Deep Silence 2.

Today we will be looking at the HAF XM Full Tower from Cooler Master, a chassis manufacturer who have proven themselves worthy time after time, but can this chassis live up to the reputation of the rest of the HAF range? The 922, 912 Plus, 932 and many others have already proven popular with system builders and especially case-modders.

Everything is getting smaller. With today's emphasis on efficiency and mobility, and processors that do even more with much less power consumption, it is a trend that will probably continue. With the success of enclosures such as the BitFenix Prodigy and Coolermaster's Elite 120 Advanced, it is great to see other manufacturers embrace this trend and put their own innovations and ideas into the small form factor market. Choices are always a good thing for a customer, and Fractal Design brings their own blend of ITX with the Node 304. In the following pages, Benchmark Reviews will take a closer look at the ideas featured in the Fractal Design Node 304 FD-CA-NODE-304-BL Mini-ITX tower computer case...
