In Win, the modern masters of chassis design, are back once again. Today we’ll be taking a look at the In Win 805, a slightly more accessible product for the masses that takes many of the style points of the premium ranges that In Win offer. We’ve been blown away by their more creative products such as the S-Frame, H-Frame, H-Tower, D-Frame, Tao and many more, but it is nice to see these wonder-chassis filtering down into a more consumer friendly package, both in terms of price and ergonomics.
With more and more people turning towards small PCs to cover their needs it's no wonder that the popularity of mini-ITX and mini-ATX compatible cases has been on the rise all over the world for quite some time now. What i never understood completely was the reason as to why PC case manufacturers didn't design small ATX compatible PC cases for people who want the extra features offered by such mainboards without having to worry about having a midi or full tower on their desks. HTPC cases have pretty much offered the solution to that for a long time now but judging by their current popularity it's safe to assume that the majority of consumers still prefers the "traditional" tower design when out to get a new case. Cooltek is one of the very few manufacturers out in the market currently who have managed to fit a full sized ATX mainboard inside small towers which up until today people thought were only compatible with mITX and mATX models. One such tower design PC case is the aluminum UMX2 by their Jonsbo brand which is here with us today.
Almost all PC cases have the same overall design. They are in the shape of a tower and our components always go in the same places. Just a few months ago, we took a look at the rather fantastic and affordable Antec ISK-110, which features a 90w built-in PSU and room for a mini-ITX motherboard. It was perfect for mounting on the back of your monitor, making it a very compact and space-saving desktop system that is ideal for offices; I should know, I’m using one for my spare workstation and it’s brilliant! Today we’ll be taking a look at something a little higher up the price and specification range, the Antec ISK 310-150, much like its little brother, it comes with support for a mini-ITX motherboard and it’s fairly small, although still bigger than the ISK110. It also features a built-in PSU, but the maximum power has been upped to 150w, giving you much more headroom for a high-end CPU or APU based system.
BitFenix started a cult-like following with its first original Prodigy Mini ITX computer case when it was first introduced in 2012. The original Prodigy back in 2012 was M-ITX form factor only, but that did not stop custom builders and Modders alike from changing the inside of the spacious case to accept even larger motherboards and custom water loops, the list goes on. After all the case had plenty of room to build in and people took that room and filled it with innovative ideas and parts creating a high demand for the little Cube Cabinet and custom parts to modify it more. BitFenix has now retooled the old case to accept some of the customer’s ideas and expanded to the bigger Micro-ATX form factor and has added 3 more PCI slots for a total of 5 PCI extension slots for SLI and Crossfire. The “Prodigy M” as it is named is a reaction to the amazing success and a few failures of this ground breaking small-cube like computer case.
