As more enthusiasts discover that they really don't need seven or eight slots in a standard ATX motherboard, the popularity of Micro ATX and Mini ITX rigs is exploding. Formerly constrained to HTPC or light home server duty, small form factor systems are now becoming the province of enthusiasts, aided by motherboards and cases designed to support the power and air flow required to house the higher-end components such systems require. The latest performance-oriented Micro ATX case is Silverstone's new SUGO SG09B, and since it's from Silverstone, you might expect that it has some unique design features. You'd be right.
Good things tend to come in small packages. When you want the smallest possible case for a HTPC machine you're left with the smallest heatsinks on the market. I actually had to go back to SilverStone's own pages to find the history of the original design concept of this case. I knew it existed as I had seen it many times looking around at their site over the past three years, but I never really took a deep look at the chassis. That is until now! No offense intended to SilverStone with this, but even with the chassis being originally released in 2006, the case is quite boring and standard by today's "must have's" in cases. The basic effort then was to deliver a Micro-ATX chassis that offered four expansion slots, a removable motherboard tray, a couple of fans; but aside from that, you only got a face covering of aluminum on the bezel and an unfinished steel interior.

The case we were supplied with for this build comes to us from SilverStone in the form of their Temjin series TJ04-E Evolution.
