I have seen a few of the Armor series cases that Thermaltake made over the past year. I liked the use of awkward angles and irregular shapes to represent armor plating and it gave the series the look of an impenetrable bunker for your hardware. The largest, the A90, had plenty of room for all of your goods, a window to see inside of the chassis and had a very unique exterior. The A60, while being a touch smaller, holds on to all the features of the A90, but takes on its own personality with the exterior design. There was even a red and black "AMD Leo Edition" that has a red window and red LEDs. With the trend of bringing the size down and offering really good feature sets, good pricing, and a unique looking chassis, what is next?

In recent years computer hardware has been developing at an amazing rate. But whilst much attention is given to new graphics technologies and new CPUs it seems that system enclosures are often left without much time in the limelight. However, one such case demands time in the forefront, with both its audacious aesthetics and its plethora of features, the InWin Maelstrom demands attention.

What do you look for in a case and what is the most you are willing to spend? Today's case isn't exactly high end and to match that it doesn't have all of the features and extras you would expect if you were shelling out cash in the €100+ range. System builders and budget gamers this one is for you, Thermaltake have released the Spacecraft VF-I Mid-Tower PC Case model VN60001W2Z and online retailers are listing it between €50~€65 and Benchmark Reviews has got an early peek at it. For that price you get a sturdy little case with a small side window, tool free drive mounting, removable air intake filters, room for video cards up to 320mm long, room for CPU coolers up to 168mm tall and also room for a 120.2 (240mm) watercooling radiator in the roof. This should prove to be an interesting review so please read on.

Today we will be looking at a new mid-tower case from Cooler Master, the Silencio 550. As the name suggests, the Silencio 550 is a chassis aimed at those who require quiet operation. Hopefully Cooler Master can achieve this while retaining their usual level of build quality.

There’s one thing about this case that I like right off the bat. Instead of designing an I/O panel into the front or top bezel of the case, Cooler Master sprung for a removable 3.5” bay device with eSATA, USB, and audio jacks. If this were a swankier case, I’d probably have a problem with it, but for cases of this simple design and price range, I think it’s perfect and mod-friendly. So often, when you’re looking at third-party bay devices, they include redundant audio jacks or other functions that the case already has covered (and since when do they not?) so the fact that Cooler Master included one that you can just yank out is downright innovative.
