Was es taugt, zeigt unser heutiger Artikel.

The consoles versus PC wars have been ongoing for longer than most fan boys can remember, but one of the arguments that has almost always been in the PC camp's favour is that their gaming platform of choice can be upgraded however you want. Sure consoles can be modded or tweaked, but it normally takes someone who really knows what they're doing to accomplish either of these feats. Now however, this argument has been turned somewhat on it's head, with Lian Li releasing a custom case for the Xbox 360; and it looks nothing like the original.

uring CES 2009 Lian-Li introduced a concept case, PC-888, shaped like a billowing sail making it to look like the famous Burj Al Arab hotel in Dubai, made of blue anodized aluminum and costing a fortune according to the manufacturer since this case is a limited handcraft edition, it should not reach the market for less than USD 500. Let's take a look on this very different case.

All in all, Lian Li PC-8N is a high quality medium range box which offers great materials, low weight and an excellent finish. It has some good details like the anti-vibration system for the hard disks; the fans and their anti dust filters and grids… but I can’t help wishing it had a decent cable management system and that the installation was tool free. If it had those two features it would be a practically perfect case. Still the case is quite spacious and the fans are quiet which lifts the overall score somewhat.
Cases
PC-8N is a new all-aluminum mid-tower case from Lian-Li. Using 1.5 mm-thick aluminum panels, this case is very light, weighting only 10.5 Lbs (4.8 Kg). Let's see what to expect from it.

Lian-Li is known for their well built HTPC cases. They have made another. Join us as we install our PC in the PC-C50 and see of it lives up to the Lian-Li standard.

One of the first things that we noticed with the PC-N1 is that Lian Li flipped the motherboard orientation. The CPU and chipset cooler is now located on the bottom of the case with large ventilation ports on both ends of the case. That obviously means that the I/O ports are now on the top of the PC-N1 case. On the front of the PC-N1 you have the brand name and the lone USB 2.0 port. Just above the front on the top cover you'll find the power button. The power button has been completely redesigned since the original prototype was shown at CES 2013...

It all started with the idea of an ultra low cost PC for education use in third world countries. Then Asus took the basis of that idea, and evolved into the Eee PC -- a small, low cost laptops for mainstream consumers. The netbook craze begins to take off. After that, Intel decided that they needed to make a processor for this very purpose in order to take advantage of this rapidly growing segment. The Intel Atom was born. Then the netbook market exploded. Welcome to 2009, a year where many low cost computing solutions came into this world, thanks to the Intel Atom CPU. From the original netbooks, nettops were born; a term to describe low cost desktop computers as juxtaposed to its laptop counterparts.
