Overall we are in a bit of a quandary regarding the Fractal Design Node 605. It's a stylish chassis with a solid build. It does offer a lot of interior space, and a flexible lay-out. You can fit a full ATX motherboard, a full ATX power supply, and a fairly large graphics card. It makes it a great solution for an allround HTPC that can also handle a demanding video game. However, the question remains how useful it actually is to use ATX-sized components. Yes, you can install multiple tuners and hard disks, but if you are going to do that, a home server would be a more interesting option for many.

If a SFF gaming cube isn't your style, the Node series has another card to play with the Node 605 for the home theatre crowd.

This week I've been able to spend time with the Node 605 HTPC chassis from Swedish manufacturer Fractal Design. We've had a few Fractal Design chassis in for review over the last couple of months, such as the Define R4 and the Node 304 M-ITX chassis, both of which are some of the best in class chassis for their respective sizes and earned our eTeknix Editors Choice Awards.

Not that long ago we took a look at Fractal Design’s Node 304 case. This small form factor case was made for mini-ITX motherboards. Today we have the Node 304’s big brother the Node 605. This case is designed the be a home theater PC case. It supports full ATX motherboards, which is great as many people repurpose old systems into home theater PC’s. The front of the case has a nice brushed aluminum finish and inside you have room for up to 4 hard drives. Other features include USB 3.0 support, a card reader and two 120mm fans included. Is this the case for your next HTPC build?
Cases
Today we are going to look at the Node 605 from Fractal Design which is designed to be used primarily for home theatre PC builds. It is part of the same range as the Node 304 that we looked at recently which we found to be a very competent product. We did feel that it was slightly over-priced when compared to the competition, though, so we are hoping that the Node 605 will offer superior value for money.
Cases
If there is any build which requires a low noise case it would be a HTPC and Fractal Design look to provide that with the case we are reviewing today. The Node 605 is designed to blend in with other home cinema equipment while still providing the low noise and high quality we associate with Fractal Design.
Cases
The Node 605 is the first HTPC (Home Theater PC) case from Fractal Design, targeted to users who want to build a computer to be connected to their home theater systems. It supports full-size ATX motherboards. Let's see what the Node 605 has to offer.
