Fractal Design’s Define XL R2 definitely did not let us down in the style department. It’s so simplistic and sleek that it’s very pleasing to the eye. I was also happy to see very little plastic in this case, but the trade-off of that is a heavier case. I don’t know how many of you would be transporting or constantly moving a full ATX case, so weight probably won’t be an issue...
Using a quality chassis for your desktop PC is important for a number of reasons. In the deluxe segment, chassis above 70 euros, it's difficult to find something that's truly subpar. With chassis that cost less than 60 euros, there is much more variety in terms of quality. With a little research you will be able to find a very decent chassis that's affordable, performs adequately and also has a nice range of features. We tested 14 chassis in this segment to separate the wheat from the chaff, and made some interesting discoveries.

Choosing a desktop computer chassis can be a challenge with so many options out there, especially in the popular £60 to £120 segment. We tested ten chassis that recently came out, and compared them to 16 desktop cases we had tested previously. We put them all side by side and compared how well they cool their components, how noisy they are, what type of features they have and how easy it is to assemble a system in each one.

Today we are going to look at the Node 605 from Fractal Design which is designed to be used primarily for home theatre PC builds. It is part of the same range as the Node 304 that we looked at recently which we found to be a very competent product. We did feel that it was slightly over-priced when compared to the competition, though, so we are hoping that the Node 605 will offer superior value for money.

HIPER has done a very nice job with the Anubis chassis, producing a stylish case that is quiet and cools surprisingly well. I was also impressed with the build quality and finish. When HIPER says this is an alloy case, they mean it. I can't recall a single plastic part, aside from the window, in the entire chassis.
