Fractal Design is known for creating computer chassis with an emphasis on silent cooling. The company has gathered a loyal following that appreciates the stylish design, quality materials and good performance of their products. We have frequently been very positive about their chassis, and some time ago the fourth edition of their "Define" flagship chassis was released, the R4. It took a while to arrive at our lab, but finally we are able to test the Fractal Design Define R4 and compare it to other silent chassis designs.
This Fractal Design Define R5 is not the first Define R5 to be assembled. There have been others before it and they are the Mid-tower silent partner series of the Fractal Design Label. The Fractal Design Define R5 is made for the addition of plenty of parts, custom and not so custom, all in one units, but also it is made for less noise, deadening vibration, and built to a high of standard of quality and excellence in and out that seem to defy their economical prices. An example is the Power Button looks like it belongs to a luxury car and the outer steel and inner insulation is hefty and you know by just having these parts in your hand that you are not just picking up some cheap lightweight panel cover. The steel panel is heavy and the window is beautifully clear and the isolation is thorough but not interfering even in cable management which is a trade off most take in stride when buying a quiet and insulated case.

Heute haben wir mit dem „Define-XL“ das neueste Modell der Reihe im Test.
Auch im neuen Jahr wollen wir euch natürlich wieder extraordinäre Gehäuse vorstellen respektive testen und Fractal Design stand schon lange auf unserem Wunschzettel, nun hat es endlich geklappt. Dieses noch recht junge Unternehmen aus Schweden ist in Skandinavien seit 2007 sehr erfolgreich und hat im letzten Jahr den Sprung nach Deutschland und seinen heiß umkämpften Gehäuse-Markt gewagt. Fractal Design konnte dann 2010 einige Achtungserfolge mit ihren Produkten erzielen, darunter waren auch ausgesprochen funktionelle und erstklassig durchkonstruierte Gehäuse, insofern war unser Interesse eine logische Konsequenz.
