Taking a closer look at the Ostrog; a budget friendly mid-tower PC chassis from Enermax.

So far 2013 hasn't been any different compared to 2012 and so many people i know have a really hard time spending money on PC hardware and who can blame them with the current state of the economy? However you don't necessarily need to pay much to get something good and PC cases is perhaps the only area where casual users can cut down on the cost and not notice any serious impact in the overall performance of their systems. Personally I’ve always favored full towers because of their interior space since that means making my job/life easier when working with them (it also means that i can fit even the largest components in them) but for casual users and gamers midi towers like the latest Ostrog by Enermax which we have here with us today not only cost significantly less but can also come in handy when placed in tight spaces.

A generation ago the only way to tell the difference between a high end gaming PC and a beige office box was by looking inside. Today PC gamers want to brand their gear as fashionable as gaming consoles, so everyone knows what's up. There are no shortages of gaming computer cases, and because there are so many there are lots of bad choices. From my own personal experience I have discovered that an innovative design does not directly translate into a quality chassis. You really want to pick a case from a company that has been around the block a few times.

Today we’ve got a full tower chassis from Enermax called the Spinerex. They’re a fairly well respected company, so I expect great things from this case. As a full tower, I’ll be looking to ensure that it can contain a hearty helping of computing goodness, as well as the normal things like build quality, materials used and cleverness of design.

In the past few years we have seen a vast number of cases being released around the £100 mark from a number of manufacturers like Corsair and Lian Li. We have looked at a number of these cases and have been generally impressed with what they have to offer for the money. At this price point, we would usually expect a plentiful feature set which includes good cable management, a high quality finish, water cooling support and good airflow.

Excellent cooling system, good build quality, great design, plenty of space for even the longest graphics cards and a killer price tag are just few of the things that make the SPINEREX Full Tower by Enermax one of the best all-around PC Cases we have seen inside 2011.

After a couple of coolers, it’s back to another chassis and this time it happens to be a mid tower chassis from Enermax. Now, Enermax has been in the game since 1990 and has had quite a following with their power supplies. Usually when I see someone ask for a power supply is when I see Enermax being thrown around as one of the top five contenders. From what I can tell from reading up on their power units, Enermax takes no prisoners when striving for the best in materials and components. Let’s just hope this rule applies to their chassis’ as well.
