While it is important to be outstanding on paper, practical excellence is what that keeps you going in the long run. Take cars, for example. Yes, I will admit most of us here are not exactly the biggest fans of Hyundai and Kia, and we do frequently take jabs at their products, but the reason is because we have actually test driven them in an objective manner. We were not paid to say anything good about them, nor were we swayed by all the irrational praise by many automotive media outlets. The point is, while it looks like you are getting a lot of car for the money simply by reading the specifications sheet, it does not really mean you are getting a lot of car for the money. Stuff like a rough, gutless engine, poorly programmed transmission, wipers that don't work very well, uncomfortable seats, and real world fuel economy that is nothing like EPA ratings are just a few things I can name right off my head that you can't determine by looking at the window sticker. In the same way, here at APH Networks, we have always been huge proponents of Noctua fans -- not because they have the highest CFM rating or lowest dB values on paper, but because they provide most competitive airflow at the lowest amount of perceivable noise in real life. You know, more like the big H rather than the slanted H of the computer cooling world. How well does the Noctua NF-P12 PWM and Noctua NF-F12 PWM live up to the legacy set by its predecessors? To find out, we took three of each in, and put them to the tests.

First off let me start by saying I have been a huge fan of Noctua products since they sent me my first cooler to test so many years ago. In the time gone by, Noctua was one of the only companies driven to the perfection to search for a noise free user environment while still delivering some of the best cooling results on the market. To be bluntly obvious, there is only so long a company can utilize one basic concept before technology passes it by and they are no longer competitive. Well, Noctua thought ahead and really came up with a wonderful fan that is one of the most thought-out designs on the market today.I know, the first thing you are going to say is that Noctua fans are ugly and the colors don't match the theme in your chassis. To that I say simply this, get over it already. These colors have made Noctua fans famous over the years and can be discerned in a crowd at long distances. The technology involved in designing a fan like this newest submission far outweighs the concern for color. Then again I am a function over form sort of guy and the only one to see my rigs is me, unless I choose to host images of it.

The Noctua NF-F12 120mm PWM fan is Noctua’s latest PWM fan. The main things we look for in a fan are performance and aesthetics. Noctua is known for extremely high quality products and aesthetics that not everyone agrees about. Today we’re going to see whether Noctua can maintain their claimed quality by looking at the NF-F12!

In this review, we have tested three Noctua NF-F12 PWM fans on a triple radiator.

Fans may not be the most exciting component in your new PC, however they do make a lot of difference in terms of performance, noise and enjoyability – it’s hard to enjoy a film (or game) if all you can hear is the whirling of wind turbines, when the film (or game) in question has nothing to do with planes.

Today for review I've got a pair of new fans from Noctua, they're called the NF-P14 FLX fans. They're 140mm fans making them fairly large of course, these 140mm fans are special in that they have round frames. The round frames make the fan essentially smaller, or at least the frame is smaller. The mounting holes in the frame will fit where any 120mm fan will fit, thus the end user can easily replace a 120mm fan with a 140mm fan for even more cooling ability. You can use the NF-P14 though in a 140mm space since Noctua has included adapters to help you do this. So read on to learn more...

With the continued flux of PC cooling companies on to the international scene, reputation is key and perhaps it is this, Noctua’s seemingly legendary status as a premium quality cooling Solutions Company that has held them at the forefront of the market for several years since its establishment in 2005. Formed through the merger of Austrian Rascom Computerdistribution Ges.m.b.H and the Taiwanese Kolink International Corporation, Noctua has focused predominately on the cooling of the central processing unit with an array of aluminium heatsinks and fans symbolised by their peach and brown colour schemes.
