While we couldn't possibly cover even a fraction of the fans on the market, in this article we are going to compare five 120mm fans to see which one is the superior fan for keeping you computer both cool and quiet. We will be taking a look at the DB-122 and DB-125 from Kingwin, as well as the NF-F12 PWM, NF-P12, and NF-S12B FLX from Noctua.

As a single fan heatsink the Zalman CNPS14X performs very well, but the higher the heat load the better the advantage there is to be gained from adding two more fans... so... Zalman include extra fan brackets for users who want to add their own 140mm fans. Since this is a novel approach, Frostytech is going to test Zalman's CNPS14X heatsink in its single fan configuration (stock) and also in a three fan configuration.

With the increasing number of fans that most enthusiasts tend to have in their systems these days, the ability to control these becomes a vital factor in being able to stay in control of both temperatures and acoustics. Most cases now have 4 to 8 fans and most high end CPU coolers need 2 fans or mores. Even some relatively high end motherboards don't offer enough fan ports for your needs, or aren't close enough to the fans to allow you to plug fan cables in. That combined with the fact fan control software can often be buggy and problematic means the modern enthusiast system can easily become a total nightmare.

While our CPU cooler reviews of late have mainly be concerned with high performance heatsinks, it is still important for us to remember that it is the budget offerings which sell the most and get used the most. That said, today we have a $30 heatsink courtesy of Evercool and it is their brand new Venti (HPQ 12025) CPU cooler. We already brought you the news of this product back in December last year, and promised we would have a review for you. Today, we duly deliver on that promise.

ith the SpinQ, Thermaltake is breaking new ground in aesthetics and design. The blue LED centrifugal fan and innovative fin design make for an interesting product that is visually exciting and would be a definite asset in a windowed case. As far as cooling performance, it is as good, or better than the majority of high-end coolers on the market at stock voltages.

The Scythe Mugen 2 has long been the CPU cooler to beat with its exquisite balance between cooling performance, noise production and price. Until now other manufacturers have not been able to equal its performance for the same humble prices. The previously released Mugen 3 disappointed us when we tested it, the price was higher while the performance was worse. Recently Scythe introduced updated versions of both the Mugen 3 and the Ninja 3, hoping to recapture the glory days of the Mugen 2. Of course we submitted both coolers to our rigorous testing procedure to find out: Has Scythe finally created a worthy successor to the Mugen 2?

Since the beginning of 2014 alone 3 of my friends decided to build their very own HTPC systems and all three turned to me for advice regarding what hardware components they should choose. Fortunately money is not really an issue for either of them but since their goal was to keep the cost inside a specific range it did take us a while to locate the ideal components. The trick was to find components with excellent price/performance ratio and for good or bad that wasn't very easy especially since all three chose very small mini ITX compatible cases by Streacom and Impactics. Luckily both Noctua and Thermalright offered very good and compact solutions acceptable by all three but since it's always nice to know what's out there today we'll be testing the latest AXP-200 Muscle by Thermalright.

One of the most recent laptop coolers/pads is the NotePal XL which features a redesign compared to the NotePal A200 we have taken a look over previously, is equipped with a larger 230mm fan and for connecting low power devices we have the option of using the integrated 3-port USB fan which is more convenient placed than before.

The battle for the high end cooling throne has reached fever pitch this year. The Noctua NH D14 ruled supreme for a long time, although it recently had to make way for a new king, the Phanteks PH-TC14PE. Today we are looking at the latest flagship cooler from Thermaltake, The Frio Extreme. Is this a serious challenger for the top spot?
