We tested Spire TherMax Eclipse CPU cooler, which has a tower design with five heatpipes and two 120-mm fans. Check it out!

With a pretty serious lineup of products already out from Scythe, they decided to rethink and redesign to bring life to a name that has been with Scythe for many years. The Samurai cooler was a cantankerous looking cooler developed in the days when there was little thought of overclocking with the jumpers, or modifying the sockets for more volts. As the needs of users changed, Scythe rolled with the punches and developed the Samurai Z. This was a very basic, two heat-pipe cooler and I use that term loosely. By today’s standards, those two pipes ran to the outer edges and would have improved cooling then, but it couldn’t handle the TDP of today’s processors. With the Samurai Z there was even improvement made and a revision “b” cooler was soon out on shelves.

In this review Frostytech will be testing out Noctua's massive dual-fan NH-D14 heatsink and comparing it against 280 other heatsinks. The big NH-D14 heatsink stands as tall as a modern tower heatsink but is twice as wide. The dual-fan set up more than makes up for that bulk by proving itself to be an excellent low noise solution capable of performance cooling. This heatsink currently ranks near the top of Frostytech's Top 5 Heatsinks chart.

Most of us spend quite a bit of time picking out just the right chassis, case fans and coolers for our desktops but notebooks are often left out of the cooling game. There are, however, a few products out there that try to address this. One such product from Cooler Master is the NotePal ErgoStand that we have for review today. We have seen several different versions of notebook coolers, most opting to be a bit more portable than the ErgoStand which can be described as a more stationary stand. The ErgoStand comes with a fan speed control and a 4-port USB hub built into the stand.

We know KitGuru readers love good coolers – our review of the Noctua Austrian Sandwich (NH D14) has been read by over 60,000 people in the last three weeks. That said, we also know that a substantial portion of that readership couldn’t afford to pay almost £70 for pride of ownership. It is a lot of dosh.

We tested the Arrow, a CPU cooler from Cogage that has a twin heatsink, one 120-mm fan and four heatpipes.
