We tested Zalman VF2000 LED, a hybrid cooler that can be used on CPUs and on video cards. Will it perform well in both tasks? Check it out!

Zaward's Vapor 120 heatsink is another in a long list of thermal solutions to feature an exposed heatpipe mounting base. The concept is simple, but we've discussed it many times on Frostytech so let's jump ahead to the Vapor 120's truly unique attribute - fin dimples. To be specific, punctured spherical dimples.

Spire's Thermax Eclipse II heatsink is essentially identical to the elusive 3Rsystem Iceage 120 Boss II heatsink Frostytech previously tested. If you've been holding out for the Iceage 120 Boss II you'll be pleased to know that Spire's Thermax Eclipse II heatsink is just as good a performance cooler - one of the Top 5 Best Heatsinks tested thus far. Both the Spire and 3Rsystem heatsinks are constructed around five 8mm diameter copper heatpipes, have exposed heatpipes at the base and a distinctive "X" pattern that positions heatpipes in the path of higher velocity air.

The Eclipse II is a fine example of modern engineering put into effect. Boasting incredible features such as the five 8mm heat pipes, dual fans, and dimpled surface, the competition in the air cooling market just got stiffer. Coming out on top is a feat the majority of heat sinks can't pull off.

We benchmarked Vortex Plus from Cooler Master, a CPU cooler targeted to compact cases, with four heatpipes and a 92-mm fan. Check it out!
Aircooling
The Coolermaster Vortex Plus heatsink stands 83mm tall, in total. A 25mm thick, 92mm PWM fan exhausts downward so waste air impinges on a lower extruded aluminum heatsink that sits atop the processor. It's both a good use of space for additional cooling surface area and an admission by heatsink designers that the aluminum fins above aren't getting the whole job done by themselves.

Thermaltake have finally produced an excellent high performance heatsink worthy of FrostyTech's Top 5 Heatsink chart. All it took was two fans, five 8mm diameter heatpipes, a 1kg mass of metal and a little concentrated effort. It's called the Thermaltake Frio heatsink. Standing 161mm tall, the 1042 gram heatsink has a modestly bulky footprint of 139x119mm, so it's best suited to full size computer cases. The Frio ships with two 120mm fans that operate at 1200-2500RPM in a push-pull configuration.

There are many reasons for buying an aftermarket cooler; some are looking to keep their systems extremely quiet while others may be looking to increase heat capacity for overclocking. The Thermalright T-Rad2 GTX and VRM R3 can handle both of those situations and in some cases, at the same time.

When we published our Core i7-980X Review we showed the new cooler that comes with this CPU, named DBX-B. Some readers asked us for a complete review of this cooler, so here it is. See if the owners of this high-end six-core CPU need to buy a CPU cooler with a higher performance if DBX-B will do the trick if they want to overclock their CPU.
