Alpenfohn are a quite reputable German brand known for their high quality enthusiast cooling products and their range of fans is certainly no exception. Alpenfohn boast about the "German Engineering" that goes into their fans and we wonder whether those Germans have what it takes to match up to that Austrian Engineering that Noctua seem to have dominated the enthusiast fan market with.

It’s been a while since I’ve reviewed any CPU coolers here on TestFreaks, not sure why, but I’ve got one now from Evercool called the Silent Shark. This cooler is big and it includes two 120mm fans that help to keep you CPU cool. The cooler also has a very unique feature that allows the user to angle the front fan up and outwards letting it clear the ram slots allowing you to use ram with larger style heatsinks on it. The cooler performs very well overall so read on to learn more and see just how it performs against another cooler….

The DEEPCOOL ASSASSIN heatsink is designed for extreme overclockers that want the best thermal performance from an air-cooled heatsink. Just looking at the ASSASSIN you know it is going to be efficient, because this thing is a behemoth with dimensions of 5.5 x 5 x 6.2 inches

Today we are taking a look at a CPU cooler that is very different to the types of CPU coolers we normally look at. We are examining the Gelid Slim Silence A-Plus. This is an ultra compact CPU cooler designed for AMD sockets AM2/AM2+/AM3/AM3+/FM1/FM2 that has been designed specifically for small form factor uses. The Slim Silence A Plus comes in at just 28mm high meaning it is perfect for 1U servers where the maximum total height per shelf is 44.45 mm which also includes the motherboard and RAM. It is difficult for us to test this up against many competitors because we know of very few - even the Noctua NH-L9a at 38mm high is too high for a 1U server. Despite this we will still be comparing this against the AMD reference stock cooler that is roughly 60mm high to get a grasp on what kind of performance the Gelid Slim Silence A-Plus offers.

Despite us being a review website that works with most companies in the industry, there is the odd company that often eludes us for various complex reasons I won't go into. Zalman has been one of those and in my time as the cooling reviewer at eTeknix I have only ever managed to scrape one Zalman product, that was the Zalman ZM-NC3500 Plus notebook cooler. Yet today I am quite excited as I have managed to get my hands on another Zalman product for review courtesy of the awesome guys over at Quiet PC.
Today we have a budget CPU cooler offering from Zalman in the form of the CNPS10X Optima Shark's Fin CPU cooler. As you can see from the above image it conforms to the typical style of CPU cooler that we'd expect to see in the "budget tower heatsink" market at the £20-£25~ price point. In fact on the face of things it looks practically identical to the Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO, Evercool Venti, SilverStone AR01 with the exception of the fan and some marginal design differences on the heatsink.
Thankfully the Zalman CNPS10X Optima Shark's Fin comes in at the lower end of that price point with a tiny retail price of £20.57 as we write, so let's see what £20 really gets you these days and see how much this Zalman CPU cooler delivers.

One of the best things the PC industry has to offer is that no matter how many manufacturers there are around at any given time new ones always rise to strengthen the competition and make more options available for consumers. Such events are especially good whenever people who have spent several years working for some of the leading manufacturers come together to share their massive experience in order to create something they can call their own. Raijintek is one such brand formed by people who used to work for CoolerMaster and Xigmatek and it was officially revealed to the public just a few days ago along with the introduction of their first 5 products 4 of which are CPU Air Coolers (Aidos, Themis, Themis Evo and Ereboss) and one is an 130mm case fan (Aeolus α). Today we will be taking a look at the two smaller models of the line that arrived here roughly a week ago the Aidos and Themis CPU Coolers.

The CM Storm SF-17 is designed with enthusiasts in mind. The Cooler Master CM Storm SF-17 can fit laptops up to 19’ and sports a 180mm silent fan, four levels of usability, four USB ports, a step less fan controller, and a really good look about it with the red LED across the front. A laptop cooler is perfect for people that use laptops for everything, i.e. a college student who needs a portable PC for classes and homework, yet also intends to use it for heavy gaming during downtime. It is during these times that the CM Storm SF-17 can really shine, effectively allowing a laptop user to cool their machine more efficiently which, in turn, lets them game on.

For adventurous computer enthusiasts seeking new and innovative heatsinks, Gelid's 'the Black Edition' heatsink offers pretty good cooling performance with a modest noise output at stock fan speeds. Gelid's 'the Black Edition' heatsink is compatible with Intel socket LGA2011/1366/1155/1156/775 processors and AMD socket AM2/AM3/FM1/FM2 CPUs/APUs.
