With the release of AMD's socket FM1 Fusion A8-3850 processors late last year there's been a growing need for inexpensive yet relatively quiet CPU coolers of moderate power. The 'Llano' processor only has a 100W TDP and costs just over $120 bucks, so expensive tower heatpipe coolers can be a little bit of an overkill. Arctic Cooling's Alpine 64 Plus heatsink is one economical option to consider; it's rated for 100W and stands 70mm tall so it fits in most media PC cases with ease.

The Frio OCK is one of Thermaltake’s most popular CPU coolers. The CPU cooler features a dual-tower heatsink design with 6 copper heatpipes and a very large copper CPU block. It comes with a removable shroud that has 2 large 130mm cooling fans attached to it. The fans have a VR fan knob that allows you to adjust the fan speeds. The FRIO OCK is compatible with all Intel sockets up to 2011 and AMD up to AM3. If you bought this cooler before Intel’s 2011 socket was released they will send you the 2011 installation hardware for free. Noctua is well known for their excellent cooling products, when it comes to the enthusiast end of things Noctua knows what it's doing that's for sure. Many of Noctua's products are aimed at the high-end or enthusiast user who likes to overclock their systems and get the most out of them. Not everybody falls into that category though and they just want a decent cooling solution for their CPU, one that's quality made and one that's quiet. I for one prefer both in my systems with quiet being one of the more important things on my list of requirements for a CPU cooler. Making products for enthusiasts usually means big, but Noctua has recently introduced a cooler that's surprisingly not aimed at the enthusiast market, or at least not the overclockers out there anyway. The Noctua NH-L12 is a low-profile style cooler meant for smaller systems like small form factor or HTPC where space is quite limited. The CPU cooler we are testing today is the Gammaxx 400, which has a tower heatsink with four U-shaped heatpipes and one 120 mm fan. Although this cooler is manufactured by Deepcool, it is now sold in the U.S. under the Logisys brand.
