KitGuru staff often get asked which cooler makes the best partner for their overclocked system. My personal choices normally shift between the Thermaltake Frio and the Noctua NH D14, depending on the budget. Recently we have received many emails asking if we could give the Cooler Master V8 the ‘KitGuru treatment’.
Recently we’ve been taking a look at some pretty high end CPU coolers which, despite the different fin configurations and heatpipe layouts, are all reasonably similar. The Cooler Master V8, which we are to take a look at in this review, is a litter different in that although it is based on a tower format design it has added heatsinks on both sides and a centrally mounted fan.

Heatsinks are a normal part of any modern computer and are designed to keep your components cool enough to run. Given these devices are utilitarian in nature there is rarely consider what they should look like. Some are massive towers of heatpipe and radiator while others might be a simple chunk of metal with fins extruded from the surface. The key point to take away from this is that heatsinks rarely look, good.
