We tested the Thermaltake Jing, a tower CPU air cooler, with five U-shaped heatpipes and two 120 mm fans. Check it out!

It wasn’t too long ago when Arctic Cooling impressed me with the Freezer 11 LP. Today, I return with the bigger brother: Freezer 13. While there are similarities between the Freezer 11 LP and Freezer 13, the two are targeting very different market segments.

Today’s video cards can run extremely hot and Arctic Cooling has shown once again its Accelerro line of coolers is up to the task. The XTREME Plus not only cools extremely well but unlike Accelerro’s of the past offers a cross GPU compatibility, only requiring the need of an accessory pack. This design allows for easy updating to future video cards.

The Aegir CPU cooler from Xigmatek sports a heatpipe cooling system named D.L.H.D.T. (Double Layer with Heat Pipe Direct Touch) first seen in their CPU cooler dubbed "Thor's Hammer"; the new Aegir is ships with one PWM LED fan which can easily be controlled by the motherboard.

At this point the Fenrir Series of coolers from Titan have made a name for themselves and have had good results so far with this line of CPU coolers. My first look was at the Fenrir, then there was the black and gold Fenrir Evo, both of which did ok in testing and put Titan in contention for a share of the market. As with most successful cooler designs, evolutions of that main idea are bound to develop as time goes by, and we are going to be looking at just that today.

The EKL Alpenfohn Groß Clock'ner 2010 heatsink on the test bench today is a heatpipe direct contact cooler - meaning the heatpipes are exposed at the base. The heatsink stands 155mm tall, is 125mm across, 105mm deep and weighs upwards of 718grams. Simple wire clips are used to hold a single 120mm fan in position, the non-PWM fan rotates at a fixed 1200 RPM. The heatsink is compatible with Intel socket 775/115/1156/1366 processors and AMD socket AM2/AM3 CPUs.

Every performance enthusiast system needs high levels of cooling. An unfortunate side effect is that many fans on the market today can generate excessive noise.

If Zalman's new 5X cooler comes to market at the promised $30 pricepoint, this cooler is a very good value. It handled the Q6600 processor and its high thermal output with ease and even at 1400 RPM easily beat the OEM solution in near silence. With support for older Intel and AMD sockets, this cooler would make an excellent replacement for a borked OEM cooler or a good choice when added to a new CPU that doesn't come with a cooling device.

KitGuru staff often get asked which cooler makes the best partner for their overclocked system. My personal choices normally shift between the Thermaltake Frio and the Noctua NH D14, depending on the budget. Recently we have received many emails asking if we could give the Cooler Master V8 the ‘KitGuru treatment’.
