The Thermax Eclipse III is better balanced than the Eclipse II, its predecessor. The old version was very loud, and fortunately the Eclipse III is much better in this regard. Still, the new Thermax Eclipse is primarily interesting if you want lots of cooling for a low price. This was more unique a couple years ago, now there are several coolers on the market for similar prices that offer the same or better performance.

The EKL Alpenföhn Matterhorn Pure is a good CPU cooler at low speeds. It cools better than average, and is more quiet than average. If you're looking for the most quiet cooler possible, there are better options in this price class. The one area in which this cooler does distinguish itself is with the fan running on high speed, here it performs better than the other coolers we compared it to. The noise level is still average despite the good cooling performance. It reminds us of the Geliud Tranquilo Rev. 2, another affordable cooler that stood out with its relatively high efficiency. The EKL cools a little better, but the Gelid is slightly more affordable.

I have been covering computer hardware for quite some time and one thing that I’ve seen a lot of are companies that specialize in CPU coolers and cooling come and go. Today we are checking out a CPU cooler from a relatively new company called Phanteks. They currently offer CPU Cooler and cooling fan solutions.
