Silverstone's NT01-Pro is a heatsink designed for small form factor cases or finicky situations where a standard tower heatsink just won't fit. Really though, if you've got a SFF chassis, HTPC or a height restricted 4U rack mount case, the Silverstone NT01-Pro heatsink is going to be of particular interest.

SilverStone are a renowned manufacturer of computer cases and we have reviewed a lot of their cases before. However, we've never really delved into any SilverStone CPU coolers despite the fact SilverStone have been making these for a very long time and they produce some of the best CPU coolers in the industry. SilverStone are very well known for their HTPC cases, such as the Grandia series, and as a result they also make low profile CPU coolers that can be used with these cases.
Today we have the SilverStone NT06 Pro Low Profile CPU cooler with us on the test bench (Specifications can be found here). On the face of things this is a very interesting CPU cooler. You've got 6 heat pipes, a low profile heat sink design that accepts a 120mm fan both above and below, a very nice supplied 120mm fan and a flexible mounting kit supporting all major sockets.
As usual we will be giving the SilverStone NT06 Pr0 the eTeknix heat treatment so read on to see how this product from SilverStone performs.

We tested NT06-E CPU cooler from SilverStone, which has five heatsinks and a horizontal heatsink with place for a 120 mm fan (not included). Check it out!

We tested the SilverStone NT06-PRO CPU cooler. It has a horizontal heatsink, six heatpipes, a 120 mm fan, and is 3.2"(82 mm) tall, which makes it a viable option for small form factor (SFF) cases.

Silverstone’s newest low profile offering, the NT06-Pro, packs a great amount of design and engineering into a very small physical form. Designed to meet the needs of SFF/HTPC builds, the Silverstone NT06-Pro stands a mere 83mm tall including the fan, but manages to get six 6mm heatpipes running through a copper base comfortably into that space. A horizontal aluminum fin array helps to dissipate the heat, while a 20mm slim 1000~2200 rpm 120mm fan handles the air movement chores. Unlike many slim fans we have seen, the Silverstone NT06-Pro fan is capable of ramping up to produce air movement similar to full width fans, topping out at 73.96 CFM. The NT06-Pro includes a versatile mounting kit compatible with Intel 775/1155/1156/1366/2011, as well as AMD AM2/AM3/FM1/FM2, with simple solid installation on both platforms.

Fans are never sexy or garnish a whole lot of attention outside of the LED lighting some use. By sending a fan for review I think shows that Silverstone is proud of what they have and I can see why. The Air Penetrator line delivers on what it promises: low noise and air channeling. In the past the thought was that you had to deal with more noise for greater cooling abilities but the AP line is certainly changing that perception.
Aircooling
Along with the innovation in computer case design comes an increasing number of new fan designs. Manufacturers try to tune noise and performance with tweaks to rotational speed, blade design, and even grill and fan chassis alterations, giving the enthusiast a broad selection of fans with differing acoustic and airflow levels. SilverStone Technology has introduced a new version of the giant 180mm fans used in their "vertical motherboard" chassis series (the Raven RV01, Raven RV02, and Fortress FT02): the SilverStone SST-AP181 Air Penetrator fan. Benchmark Reviews compares the performance of this new fan to the stock fans in a Fortress FT02 case to see if the extra performance justifies their price.

SilverStone may be known for their cooling, but not necessarily their CPU coolers. As a company, they’ve brought forward many innovations and unique, successful approaches to the ATX case standard with their AP series fans and rotated motherboard enclosures. It’s not that SilverStone is a stranger to CPU cooling - there were the Nitrogen special-application series before the new Argon series, as well as the Heligon high-performance line of heat-sinks. The Argon AR01, AR02, and AR03 are all designed to be more accessible alternatives for enthusiasts, with each model fulfilling a specific purpose. The SilverStone SST-AR01 is designed to be a price/performance leader in the market, and is the cooler that Benchmark Reviews will be taking a look at today.

Sporting six 6mm direct-contact heatpipes and a 140mm wide tower-style heatsink assembly, the AR03 is the top option available in the Argon family with the most cooling capacity. Benchmark Reviews will have a chance to find out if the AR03 belongs at the top of the Argon family.

The SilverStone TD03 is a liquid cooling system for processors. It has a 120 mm radiator with two 120 mm fans in push-pull configuration, and a full metallic CPU block. Let's see if it is a good buy.
