Noctua has made a habit of delivering consistently top notch products without surprises, yet the NH-U14S and NH-U12S both share a very distinct one. While Noctua has outfitted the NH-U14S and NH-U12S with a very impressive array of features (8mm heatpipes with five on the 12S and six on the 14S, nickel plated copper pipes and base and aluminum fin array), it is the guaranteed RAM compatibility that surprises. Noctua has actually managed to pack all top air cooler traits into a configuration that allows for the use of taller RAM in all slots of current Intel boards without detracting from performance. Both coolers use Noctua’s latest fan designs which boast high air movement and static pressure with very limited noise, as well as PWM control. Both the 140mm of the NH-U14S and 120mm of the NH-U12S top out at 1500rpm at only 19.2 and 18.6 dBA respectively. The same SecuFirm 2 mounting kit is used on both, offering top quality components with easy and solid installation. All necessary hardware is included to add second fans for push/pull operation, as is a tube of top quality NT-H1 thermal interface material.

Just like the previously reviewed THEMIS Evo, the Raijintek Pallas showed incredible thermal control at a very good price point. Considering that it can go toe-to-toe with larger tower-style coolers, the Raijintek Pallas is not a typical low-profile cooler just for HTPC use. The design and the build quality is also impeccable with detailed touches not just for aesthetic reasons but for practical functionality as well.

Learning from the past has allowed Cooler Master to improve upon an already successful design. The NotePal X2 is a next generation cooler modeled after the NotePal X1. Like the X1 this new model (R9-NBC-4WAK-GP) uses a unique body shape and a large central fan as the heart of its design. In addition to looking stylish the 'X' shape of the cooler actually contributes to cooling performance. In this review Benchmark Reviews analyzes the performance of the NotePal X2 as well as the role played the unique body composition.

ThermoLab may not be the first company that springs to mind when you think of a CPU cooler but that isn't to say that they are a new company on the market. They have had a few major releases in past years including the phenomenal ThermoLab Baram which dethroned the legendary TRUE as the king of the cooling world back in 2009.

You know those little black and white plastic push-to-click feet that accompany every Intel processor heatsink made for socket LGA775, LGA1156 and LGA1366? They look like this (below) and fit into the four small holes in the motherboard around the CPU socket, whereby a bit of downward force locks them and the heatsink in place. Well, we've been wondering for years what the proper name for these clips is.

We all know Raijintek, right? Well chances are you are thinking “who?â€. Raijintek are a new player in the cooling marketplace (and soon to be expanding into cases and PSUs too), looking to take on the competition with a range of high performance, low cost heatsinks. Today we take a look at one of their top end models, the Ereboss.

We review a lot of fans and other computer cooling equipment here at OCModShop. In some ways, testing fans are quite straightforward, and in other ways they are very subjective. The noise and airflow ratio produced by any given fan changes as the blades and motor gather dust. Debris on the blades can actually chip away at the blade edge over time, making it less aerodynamic, which reduces airflow and increases noise. Dust in the motor means friction, which requires more electricity to move the fan around and increased noise.
