Today I will be reviewing the Gelid GX-7. Gelid are another name on a list of companies who seemily have come out of no-where, but quickly raised to the top. Gelid have been around for nearly 4 years, and unlike many new companies in this industry, haven’t attempted to enter too many markets at once, rather focusing purely on HSF’s for CPU’s & GPU’s, Fans and Thermal Interface Material (TIM).

The Gelid GX-7 heatsink stands 158mm tall and ships with a variable speed PWM fan internally illuminated by several very bright blue LEDs. The lights make a nice impression on the spinning blue fan blades which feature novel little 'wing tips'. Beyond that, the GX-7 would look like any other tower format heat sink except for one trick up its sleeve - stacked heatpipes.

For adventurous computer enthusiasts seeking new and innovative heatsinks, Gelid's 'the Black Edition' heatsink offers pretty good cooling performance with a modest noise output at stock fan speeds. Gelid's 'the Black Edition' heatsink is compatible with Intel socket LGA2011/1366/1155/1156/775 processors and AMD socket AM2/AM3/FM1/FM2 CPUs/APUs.

The Black Edition CPU Cooler from Gelid Solutions shows a large step in Gelid’s involvement with the hardware side of the CPU cooling market. The Gelid Black Edition is a full-on 160mm tall, 990g dual tower cooler using two 120mm fans, with very impressive looks and design. To begin with, the Black Edition uses a slim fan up front to improve compatibility with larger MB components and pairs it with a high CFM low noise fan in the center of the towers to maximize airflow while keeping noise to an absolute minimum. Both fans are nicely finished in black and work well with the black brushed top making for an impressive in-case presentation. The aluminum fins of each tower have a unique, rippled shape in order to improve airflow while keeping noise to a minimum. The versatile mounting kit of the Black Edition is compatible with the latest Intel (775/1150/1155/1156/1366/2011) and AMD (FM1/2, AM2/3) sockets, and a Y-adapter for fan cables is included. With outstanding build quality, Gelid backs the Black Edition with a 5-year warranty.

We reviewed the Gelid Black Edition CPU cooler. We primarily know Gelid from their popular Tranquilo Rev. 2 cooler, an affordable yet very silent and effective CPU cooler. It's one of the best coolers you can get in terms of value for your money. We were therefore quite eager to test Gelid's new cooler, called the Black Edition, which is positioned a little higher.
Aircooling
Gelid’s primary focus over the years has been cooling solutions that go above and beyond what are currently out on the market. Their name “Gelid” literally means extremely cold and icy in Latin.
Today I have with me Gelid’s latest outing in their performance Gamer series of CPU coolers: The Gelid Black Edition CPU cooler. I was really excited when this cooler was first announced as it can hold up to three 120mm fans and has an absolutely bonkers seven heat pipe design.

With today's newest processors, controlling heat is the name of the game. Check out how well the 300W TDP Lucifer cooler performs from GamerStorm.

This is the first cooler from the GamerStorm line of CPU coolers that we have had to test. It's time to see if the Assassin is a real killer or not.
