Aircooling
The Silent Spirit follows an open frame structure concept whereby both design and dimensions have been improved to eliminate humming and buzzing noises while maintaining a compact overall size. The 92mm fan has been chosen for silent operation and high airflow and comes with an intelligent PWM control to allow users to set the fan speed in their BIOS accordingly. In addition the anti-vibration fan mounts are made of high quality rubber thus guaranteeing a long life span even during high temperatures.

The word heatsink has always been one of those unusual words that doesn't quite fit what it actually is. Let's break it down. Heat is a form of energy associated with the motion of atoms or molecules and capable of being transmitted through solid and fluid media by conduction, convection or radiation. To sink is to fall or drop to a lower level, especially to go down in stages, or to make weaker or less forceful. Hmmm... I guess heatsink does work after all.

Gelid are a new name in the business and have already impressed us with their high performance GC-1 thermal compound which rates up there with the best already available. Today we are going to look at their first ever CPU cooler, a mid-range heatsink which could be a very important product for the company.
Today we install a Gelid Icy Vision-A on our 7950 and see how the temperatures compare to the XFX custom cooler and AMD reference design.
The Icy Vision is a VGA cooler with five heatpipes and two 92 mm fans. Let's take a look at its performance.
The GELID Icy Vision Is a 5-heat pipe VGA cooler compatible with both AMD Radeon and NVIDIA GeForce video cards. Revision 2 of the GELID Icy Vision VGA cooler extends compatibility to include Radeon HD7850 and HD7870 video cards as well as GeForce GTX 680, Quadro 4000 and GeForce TITAN video cards. We recently took a look at Gelid's current flagship CPU cooler, the Tranquillo Rev. 2. It was a good cooler seeing that it carried out Gelid's goal of being quiet in action while offering good performance with an overclocked CPU. Today we are hoping that their VGA coolers are equally good when we look at their current VGA cooling flagship, the Icy Vision Rev. 2.

Gelid has started their aftermarket cooling legacy with a strong step by releasing the Icy Vision Rev. 2. The cooler has certainly passed the performance tests and proven it's a contender. Gelid's design is adaptable, versatile, and backed up with very competitive results.
