Up for review today is another CPU cooler, this one is the latest and greatest from a company called Phanteks. I’ve not had the pleasure of reviewing their products before so this is a treat for me. The cooler is the PH-TC14CS_RD where the RD means red, yes the cooler is red in color but there are several other color options available. The PH-TC14CS is a rather beefy cooler and it comes with two 140mm fans making it even larger in size, but it’s meant to be a top-notch performer and I can tell you that it is easily keeping my Core i7 2600K cool even while overclocked. There are hundreds of consumers the world over who have computer systems in pieces; graphics cards laying on their carpets, motherboards on their beds and hard drives in cupboards. You can guarantee that in almost every street in you will find this type of user. In my street, that's me in a nutshell. Frostytech is not going to waste your time by leaving the most important information till the very end of this review - the Nexus VCT-9000 heatsink is an interesting looking thermal solution, but it fails completely in its execution. Nexus have manufactured the VCT-9000 heatsink poorly, resulting in uneven exposed heatpipes that may not contact the processor properly. The heatsink does not perform very well as a result, so the rest is pretty much moot. It's a critical flaw that no heatsink can afford make, undermining all other potential innovations and leaving us with a 635g hunk of metal good for the scrap bin.

The Igloo 5761 Silent heatsink uses a familiar top-down-fan approach, with three 6mm diameter exposed base heatpipes conducting heat from the CPU to a small thin aluminum fin cooling stack. In the ElementS series there's two types of cases, the VK60001N2Z(the one we're reviewing), and the VK60001W2Z. The difference is simple, VK60001W2Z has a side panel 240mm fan made mainly for VGA cooling. If you are planning on getting a Crossfire or SLi solution with 2 high end cards, or just impressing your friend with a huge fan, my suggestion is to get VK60001W2Z.
