Canada -- the country full of ice. We live in igloos made from blocks of snow, ride dog sleighs to work, and, as bad as weather may seem, winter takes up almost twelve out of the twelve months of the year. There are a few months in between filled with surprising weather where you can't predict when will happen the next day, and such variable patterns are especially true here at APH Networks Calgary. For those who live in this city, you will know what I am talking about. Generally speaking, we can safely say that Canada might as well be the cold Arctic in the north with strange weather patterns. So how is technology able to survive in such a country? Well, while our awesome weather can provide natural phase change cooling for pretty much anything and everything, I don't think electronics would appreciate all the snow, and neither would I appreciate sitting in the snow all day. After all, it is much more comfortable in my igloo. Being a Canadian citizen for quite a number of years now, there is a company that always easily pops into my mind when it comes to CPU cooling, and that is Arctic Cooling. Not 'arctic cooling' as in opening my window, but actually Arctic Cooling, the company. (Take that, global warming!) Let me remind you that not too long ago, we have reviewed one of Arctic Cooling's heatsinks -- specifically, the Arctic Cooling Freezer 13. Today, what we have next to it is its bigger brother, the Arctic Cooling Freezer 13 Pro. I don't know about you, but as for myself, I always have a tendency of fighting with my younger brother over things, especially when we were young. But being the older one myself, in a completely unbiased and objective manner, it is usually the bigger brother who's better at these things. Therefore, as this logic carries forward in our review today, the question to ask is not whether the bigger Freezer 13 Pro is better than the little Freezer 13. The question to ask is how much better is the Freezer 13 Pro. Read on to find out what we have found!

Evercool seems to have hit upon a good cooling design with the HPK-10025EA. Finally a small, low profile cooler has arrived that can really perform better than the OEM unit without breaking the bank. Available online for as little as $25 US, this little heatsink is a very good value, provided you don't expect too much of it, wattwise.

Noctua is a company known for making quality and well performing CPU Coolers, some of the best on the market today surely. They’ve recently introduced a new cooler called the NH-C14 which gets its name from the ‘C’ shape that the cooler is. The NH-C14 comes equipped with two Noctua NF-P14 140mm fans for excellent cooling performance. The two fans are mounted, one on top and one on the bottom, and you can configure it however you like; If you need more room beneath the cooler then just use the top fan. The NH-C14 is made to be versatile and have good performance at the same time.

The Auras Shagon ARC-118 heatsink is built around four 6mm diameter copper heatpipes and a 50x100mm aluminum fin stack. The heatsink features an exposed heatpipe base and utilizes a single 2400-1000RPM 92mm PWM fan for all its cooling needs. Since this heatsink is equipped with a 92mm fan, noise levels tend to be moderate at stock speeds and whisper quiet at minimum RPM. Total heatsink foot print is 101x88mm, its weight is 460 grams.

At the end of the day, the only problems with the NH D14 are the price (around £70) and the gargantuan size which can cause fitting problems with a selection of supporting hardware. Enter the NH U12P which received an update in recent months to Special Edition SE2 status. This cooler can be picked up for around the £50 mark in the UK, so there are substantial savings to be made.

The Breeze Pro USB fan from ARCTIC is a solid built product, comes with a low noise 92mm fan which produces a gentle breeze during hot Summer time, a knob from which we can set its speed and a 4-port USB 2.0 hub on the base; in case we need to connect devices to the hub which need more power, we need to connect to the base an additional power adapter, which is not included.
