Today I’ve got a quick review for you of a great little product from Kingston called the HyperX Fan. We know Kingston makes good ram, and now they’ve come out with a fan to help keep it cool. Cooler is better for anything, but especially when you’re overclocking. The HyperX fan can mean the difference between success and failure or stability for your ram. Even if you’re not overclocking though, your system can benefit from it. The fans blow air on the ram and the surrounding areas as well, so it offers to help airflow within your case.
Today we are looking at the newest CPU cooler offering from Enermax, the ETS-T40. The new EST-T40 line from Enermax has a new patented fin design that Enermax says gets the ETS-T40’s thermal resistance down to 0.09*C/W. The Be Quiet Dark Rock Pro 2 is a top-of-the-line CPU cooler. With the fans on high it's the best-performing cooler that we've ever tested, and with fans on low it's the most efficient. It makes it a great cooler for serious overclocking and for creating a silent PC, and even for a combination of both. The Zalman CNPS12X is also not a bad CPU cooler, and has its looks going for it. Performance-wise it's not on the level of the Be Quiet cooler, however.
As you can guess from their name, Silenx has built their reputation around quiet PC accessories. Their IXC-120HA2 CPU cooler easily lives up to this reputation by being, well, very quiet. Even with its modest fan speeds, this cooler did an excellent job of cooling the Q6600 during testing. That is, until I added some voltage and clock cycles. When your packaging boldly states, “designed for gamers and overclockers,” you'd better bring more performance to the table that the IXC-120HA2 does.
