The infamous beige and brown colour scheme of Noctua fans may be "make or break" for some people's buying preferences, but that hasn't stopped the Noctua NF-F12s being some of the most respected 120mm fans on the market. Surprisingly, we've yet to take a look at the Noctua NF-F12 fans here at eTeknix and today we've managed to get some in from Noctua to have a good look at. In an era when consumers are being increasingly more fussy about aesthetics, quality and noise, Noctua have managed to make a name for themselves with the NF-F12s.
We are going to walk you briefly through the Noctua NF-F12 fans and show you how their acoustic performance stacks up against some competing fans. Unfortunately we can't do any CFM-airflow tests as we lack the expensive equipment to do so, also using proxy measurements like fan performance on CPU heatsinks is a very hit-and-miss process because different heatsinks require different things - some benefit from static pressure, others from high airflow and others from a mix of both. Add to that the fact you can start playing around with single or dual fan configurations, PWM speeds or fixed speeds like 500/1000/1500RPM, different testing environments like cases or open air test benches and suddenly you've got more graphs than you can shake a stick at - let alone draw accurate conclusions from.

In this review we will be looking at the new Noctua NF-F12 PWM Fan which features the new Focused Flow technology for better air penetration and overall pressure. The fan features nine major innovations some of which we have seen on competing products with different levels of refinement.

When it comes to reviewing products fans just aren’t something very exciting, unless they’re from our friends at Noctua who always seem to be innovating and improving the designs of their fans. They spend quite a bit of time, effort and money on improving fans. Most people take them for granted really. Today for review I’ve got their newest fan called the NF-F12 PWM which is a 120mm fan with lots of new features and it has a very unique look to it. So read on…

Continuing with our cooling theme here on Verdis, we take a look at a product from a company that deserves all the accolades it receives. Yes, you guessed it – Noctua. In the past we have seen great performance from products from this manufacturer and so the NF-B9 fan up for review today straight away has high expectations. Let’s hope it can deliver…

The cooling fan isn’t the most exciting thing to review, surely I’d rather be reviewing a video card or maybe a game, but the cooling fan is something that is truly needed in your system as without it you will no doubt run into problems! When it comes to fans, I think Noctua is probably the leading company out there as they are one that puts everything into design and innovation of their cooling products. Today for review I have one of their latest fans, the model NF-A15 PWM, which is a 150mm fan, but it actually has mounts for 140mm sizes. The special design of the NF-A15 allows you to mount a 150mm fan wherever you can install a 140mm fan giving you full 150mm airflow performance but in a smaller sized area. Read on to learn more about a great fan…

A few years ago, 120mm fans were used to get the lowest noise with the highest airflow, and thus better-performing PCs. Now many cases are coming with 140mm mounts as the only way to improve on this is to go bigger.

Noctua's portfolio of premium fans is ever growing in breadth. They have fans for almost every usage scenario and market segment. The recent introduction of three new fans is the next step in Noctua being able to offer a more extensive range of cooling fans.
Noctua have kindly sent us three of their newest fans for review today. These fans expand Noctua's 140mm fan range - before they launched these new fans they only had a single 140mm fan, the NF-P14 FLX. Two of the new fans are based on the same raw design just with different operating speeds, the NF-A14 FLX (Faster variant) and NF-A14 ULN (Slower variant). The other model we have been sent, the NF-A15 PWM, is something very unique. It is a 140mm fan with a 150mm width (for additional airflow due to bigger fan blades) that features 120mm mounting holes. What this means is you can get extra performance on 120/140mm supported CPU heatsinks where having "fan overhang" isn't an issue - impressive and innovative stuff.
Compared to previous fan reviews I have done here at eTeknix I will be trying a new review method. This time we will be using a CPU heatsink as a proxy for the performance of these three fans. The CPU heatsink in question is the Thermalright Macho Rev.A (BW) and this supports 120/140mm fans. We will continue to do the normal acoustic tests to allow us to compare results with a selection of other fans but we will also have these extra performance proxy results to refer to as well so you can get some indication of performance. I hope this will mean we can offer you more useful fan reviews, but please do leave any feedback that you may have along the way so we can improve the content we offer you. Ultimately it is what you want and think that is most important to us so please be as vocal as you can.

The cooling fan is an integral part of any computer system, and not all are created equal. I personally prefer a quiet yet cool system and finding that balance is hard to do, thankfully Noctua makes it a bit easier with their award winning fan designs. The latest fan I have for review from Noctua is the NF-A14 ULN where ULN stand for Ultra Low Noise. This fan, at stock, runs at only 800 RPM but yet still manages to move quite a bit of air around your case but remaining virtually silent. If 800 RPM isn’t quiet enough for you, then you can use the supplied Low Noise Adapter and slow the fan down even further to only 650 RPM and yet still move almost the same amount of air. So read on to learn more about the fan and see some test results…
