No matter which laptop you have, the expensive or inexpensive one, they pretty much all seem to get very hot in a short period of time. NZXT has released their fifth notebook cooler, the Cryo X60, model RN-CRX60-B1. With a slim profile design using two 120mm asymmetrical cooling fans, aluminum construction, and high airflow with vented aluminum mesh cutouts. Supports laptops up to 16" screen size. This is a premium laptop cooler with an integrated 4 port usb hub and a 5 speed fan controller that runs optionally on Usb power or AC adapter. Built by NZXT known for gamer enthusiast quality cooling products and accessories, Benchmark Reviews will be testing this cooler for performance and value.
Today we'll be looking at the NZXT FX120LB and the FX140LB, case fans that work around a "fluid dynamic bearing" system. Since the bearings in a fan's motor are often the biggest source of noise at low speeds, this new design has the potential to produce a much quieter fan without sacrificing performance.
Today, I have something new to feast my burly and sore eyes upon; not one, but two NZXT case fans. Recently, I have spent many late nights and countless hours banging my head on the desk learning a programming framework and OpenGL ES. Fortunately, I came out alive, so I can write this review. The NZXT FX 120LB and FX 140LB are two case fans that will be going into the NZXT Source 210 Elite after this review, so its performance data is definitely something I am going to be after. Last time, I was very impressed by the performance of the NZXT HAVIK 140 and the fans it comes with. This leaves high expectations from this pair we are reviewing today, especially when it comes to low noise levels and good airflow. Generally speaking, when I can no longer see straight, and I'm trying to finish off coding something, the last thing I want to do is be sitting at my desk with fans roaring in the background, and the room starting to feel like a sauna. Thankfully, I live in Canada, so by simply opening my window, I can drop the room temperature well below the freezing point. This really brings up the question of whether or not this pair of fans can drop my computer case by a few degrees as well. Well, that would be a spoiling the review, but I think it would be safe to assume adding more fans will typically improve airflow, and as a result, drop the temperature of your system's components. Okay, adding more fans won't help if you are using liquid helium to set world record overclocks, but then again, I have doubts someone doing that would be reading about case fans, haha.
Yup, this isn’t a press release or a tease… this is the only review on the new NZXT FX Enthusiast Fan series that I know of on the Internets at the time of this writing.
If you’re familiar with the NZXT brand, then you’re probably a loyal customer and not only have a few of their cases, but some of their matching case accessories like their Sentry line of fan controllers. NZXT does a great job with getting all of their stuff to match and look great, so having an NZXT-only rig will certainly get some attention from the ladies… or at least the only girl at the LAN party… who is probably only there because her boyfriend drug her along and she plays Bejeweled or Facebook games all day to pass the time. Well, now is the time to woo her with your extraordinary taste in PC couture!
So how well do these things push air? And are they really quiet? How great is the fan control? Is Obama responsible for crop circles? We’ll attempt to answer some of these questions in this review.
NZXT is a rather new contender to the cooling market, with just in the past year's time releasing both a new fan series and a new CPU cooler. Today I've had a chance to look at and extensively use their new FX-120LB, FX-140LB & FS-200LB-RLED fans. We'll find out if NZXT has what it takes to contend in the cooling market, what they have done in the case market and find out if these fans are really worth your buck.
The NZXT FZ-200 is a 200mm fan rated at a whopping 103CFM at a mere 20dBA at 800rpm. While I reference the Phantom 630, it is naturally at home in any case where a 200mm fan is needed. The FX-200 is available in the standard NZXT black/white color scheme, and is also available with LED in blue, green, orange, red and white. LED models have an on/off switch included, which can control up to two fans, and brightness of the LED changes along with the fan speed. All models include a 4-Pin Molex adapter with bypass and black mounting screws
The NZXT Grid Fan Hub is slim & compact, looks great, 10 fan connections, comes with adhesive Velcro, fans cables and power lead for easy setup. If you need to add a lot of fans in a hurry, this is it.
NZXT hat mit dem Havik 140 bereits gezeigt, dass sie neben guten Gehäusen auch gute Kühler bauen können. Der Havik 120 ist dem großen Bruder sehr ähnlich, bietet aber von vielen Sachen etwas weniger. So kommen nur noch 120-mm-Lüfter zum Einsatz und auch die Anzahl der Heatpipes hat sich von sechs auf vier verringert, dafür fallen die Wärmeleitrohre aber nun dicker aus. Dass sich die Unterschiede sich beim Preis bemerkbar machen, ist dann nur die logische Konsequenz. Ob sich die technischen Unterschiede aber auch auf die Leistung auswirken, und wenn ja wie große diese Unterschiede ausfallen, dass wollen wir auf den folgenden Seiten klären.
Since I have already seen what the new version has in store, the first thing I looked at were the fan mounts. While they are built from the same molds for the rubber to be formed into, I do believe the consistency of the rubber is a bit thicker and stronger this time around; at least they sure feel that way compared to the broken version I have sitting here. I am glad to see that all aspects of this design have been gone back over to even improve on the smallest things.
