Bigger is usually better when it comes to cooling, but it may not always be an option. With the NH-U9B SE2, Noctua gives users with limited room a solid performing cooler. Its smaller size as well as quiet operation makes it an ideal choice for HTPC users. The SE2 package comes with everything you need, from a screwdriver and thermal grease to Y-splitter and low noise adapters.

The NH-U9B SE2 includes Noctua’s SecuFirm2 multisocket mounting system which allows this cooler to work with numerous socket configurations including: LGA1366, LGA1156, LGA775, AM2, AM2+ and AM3. Noctua built this CPU cooler around their highly regarded NH-U9 series of compact coolers. They also provide two 92mm NF-B9 fans with included Low-Noise and Ultra-Low-Noise-Adaptors. According to Noctua the two fans are designed to work best in a push-pull arrangement. Plus Noctua warranties this cooler for six years.

Let's test the NH-U9B SE2 CPU cooler from Noctua. This cooler has a tower heatsink, four U-shaped heatpipes, and two 92 mm fans

Today we are checking out a CPU Cooler from Noctua that has been out for a while now, but is definitely worth covering as its size lends itself to smaller form factor builds and HTPC setups. The NH-U9B SE2 is still going to offer great cooling performance as it is built around Noctua’s award winning NH-U9B heatsink and comes with two Noctua premium-grade NF-B9 cooling fans. On top of that the NH-U9B SE2 comes with Noctua’s SecuFirm2 mounting system, making it quite easy to install this cooler on pretty much any motherboard. If that is not enough Noctua has backed this cooler with a 6 year warranty! Let’s take a closer look at the Noctua NH-U9B SE2.

Noctua has long been known for their quiet fans and have earned quite the reputation for silent operation and outstanding cooling ability. Both Shawn and Zahn have recently reviewed some Noctua heatsinks, the NH-D14 and the NH-C12P SE14, each targeted at a different audience. Today I will be taking a look at the NH-U9B SE2, a compact heatsink that is designed with lower end / HTPC use in mind.

Today we have a cooler from the award winning Noctua. The NH-C14 is a C-Type cooler meaning it takes up a lot less space above the CPU than the usual tower type coolers while also providing airflow over nearby motherboard components and RAM modules. Included are two of Noctua's NF-P14 FLX fans. It's an impressive package but can it live up to expectations? We'll soon find out.

Noctua makes great coolers, but as time goes on the older ones just won’t work with the new sockets that keep coming out. The coolers Noctua makes are excellent quality and perform well and they do come at a price, a higher price than most other out there, but they’re well worth it as you know if you’ve ever owned any. I have several of them and I recently decided to upgrade one of my kids computers with my old Core i5 setup and wanted to use a good cooler with it, and that meant I grabbed one of the unused Noctua ones that I had sitting around but I found it wouldn’t work with the socket 1156. Noctua has a solution for this though, the NM-I3 Mounting Kit that works with any of the new and old Noctua coolers so you can use them with newer sockets. The kit essentially makes them never become obsolete so that Noctua cooler you bought three years ago can still be used with the latest CPUs of today. The kit can be obtained free of charge actually from Noctua if you provide proof of purchase or it can be bought for only $10, which is well worth it I think to be able to use the older cooler with the newer platforms. So read on for a quick review of the NM-I3 kit….

High performance cooling has come a long way over the years and while most people associate aftermarket cooling options with overclocking that isn't always the case. Some coolers may be best suited as high capacity alternatives to the cheap and unattractive OEM designs.
