Noctua have really impressed with the products that have been reviewed on Verdis Reviews before; this week we take a look at another cooler from the same company that has received over 150 awards for its high quality design. The NH-U12P has been around for a little while now but is still able to compete with many of the newer additions from rival companies. Enough said, time to have a better look and see what we think.

The introduction of the latest X58 and i7 platform has meant that a whole new mounting mechanism for the LGA1366 socket has been developed. The influx of coolers is now extremely vast with the predominate theme of the coolers featuring aluminium fin stacks and U-shaped heat pipes. One such design that has had great success is the Noctua NH-U12P; instead of redesigning a whole new cooler for the i7 platform as some companies have chosen to do, Noctua have stuck with the tried and tested NH-U12P creating a special edition with an adjusted accessory bundle specifically for the LGA1366 socket. With high accolades and proven performance, this heatsink and fan combination should be a sure fire hit in cooling the i7 processor.

The build quality is good, the hardware kit is beyond complete and will handle any i7 processor in stock or overclocked form with ease. Remember, I tested this one with one of the hottest i7 models available with a 130watt heat output and this cooler handled it perfectly fine.

Noctua has made their ever popular NH-U12P cooler compatible with the new Intel LGA1156 socket. Join us as we look over the NH-U12P SE2. The NH-U12P SE2 ships with Noctua's SecuFirm2 multi-socket mounting system that combines outstanding compatibility, optimal contact pressure and easy, straightforward installation on Intel LGA1366, 1156 and 775 platforms as well as AMD socket AM2, AM2+ and AM3 platforms.

It’s been a long time since I’ve reviewed any CPU Coolers here, so let’s just jump right back into it with one for the Corei5 Socket1156. Today I have the Noctua NH-U12P SE2 CPU Cooler for review. It’s essentially the same as the original NH-U12P but now is compatible with more socket types, including the 1156 Corei5 CPU. Noctua is well know for their products, the design, build quality and performance are all excellent. They’ve won many, many awards for their products, so it was natural that they come out with newer versions of their products for the newer CPUs and socket styles. I’ve installed it on my Corei5 750 CPU, and tested it both at stock speeds and overclocked, so read on to learn more…

The Noctua NH-U12P SE2 is a great cooler. I was already impressed by its predecessor, the NH-U12P and Noctua has managed to improve on it with the inclusion of an extra NF-P12 fan. The build quality and design are excellent and compatibility is a non-issue. Installation was also extremely simple - the clearly illustrated manual was a big help.

The Noctua NH-U12P SE2 CPU cooler has a tower heatsink, four heatpipes, and two 120 mm fans. We tested the first version of the NH-U12P almost three years ago. The main differences between the NH-U12P and the NH-U12P SE2 (Special Edition 2) are that the SE2 has the SecuFirm2 mounting mechanism and comes with two fans

At the end of the day, the only problems with the NH D14 are the price (around £70) and the gargantuan size which can cause fitting problems with a selection of supporting hardware. Enter the NH U12P which received an update in recent months to Special Edition SE2 status. This cooler can be picked up for around the £50 mark in the UK, so there are substantial savings to be made.
