Kingwin's XT-1264 is the first tower-style heatsink to pass through the Frostytech test labs which incorporates asymmetrical "U" shaped heatpipes. In other words the heatpipes are not even, rather one length of each vertical heatpipe is 30mm shorter than the opposite.
Today in the KitGuru lab we have the Freezer 13 Pro which is the latest CPU cooler offered by Arctic. The Freezer 13 Pro features their Cross-Blow cooling technique and claims to have the maximum cooling capacity of 300 watts. That kind of cooling ability should be able to tame pretty much any CPU currently available. With that in mind we have high hopes that this solution on test today will really deliver the goods.
The EKL Alpenföhn Matterhorn Pure is a good CPU cooler at low speeds. It cools better than average, and is more quiet than average. If you're looking for the most quiet cooler possible, there are better options in this price class. The one area in which this cooler does distinguish itself is with the fan running on high speed, here it performs better than the other coolers we compared it to. The noise level is still average despite the good cooling performance. It reminds us of the Geliud Tranquilo Rev. 2, another affordable cooler that stood out with its relatively high efficiency. The EKL cools a little better, but the Gelid is slightly more affordable.

The latest product we are looking at today from Thermaltake is not designed to replace the FRIO, more to compliment it. This cooler is called the JING, which Thermaltake say means ‘silence’. We prefer the chinese medical definition meaning ‘essence, genetic makeup, or life’. This rather dramatically named product has been created to capture a portion of the FRIO’s cooling performance while remaining as quiet as possible – Thermaltake rate it at a grass whispering 16dBA. At this noise level it is capable of dealing with 200 watts of heat, which we will test later.
To conclude the Noctua trio of fans, we have the smallest of the three – the NF-R8. With both the 120mm and 92mm versions proving to be right up there at the top of the market, the NF-R8, featuring the same technology, seems sure to follow in the footsteps and achieve some great cooling results.
