On Frostytech's test bench today is the Silverstone Heligon HE01 (SST-HE01) heatsink, an interesting asymmetric dual tower CPU cooler built for Intel LGA2011/1366/1156/1155/775 and AMD socket AM2/AM3/FM1/FM2 processors. At the heart of the heatsink is a massive 140mm vaneaxial fan, flanked by differently sized fin stacks which correspond to intake and exhaust air flows. On the cool air-intake side of the fan is a 30mm thick fin tower with a straight row of heatpipes intersecting the fins.
We have reviewed many ARCTIC products in the last year, and today we are looking at their latest cooler, the Accelero Twin Turbo 690. As the name would suggest this is specifically designed for the current NVIDIA GTX690 flagship graphics solution. Is this worth the hefty $169.95 asking price?
As a single fan heatsink the Zalman CNPS14X performs very well, but the higher the heat load the better the advantage there is to be gained from adding two more fans... so... Zalman include extra fan brackets for users who want to add their own 140mm fans.
Since this is a novel approach, Frostytech is going to test Zalman's CNPS14X heatsink in its single fan configuration (stock) and also in a three fan configuration.

Pour vous donner un aperçu, c'est un gros bloc et un autre plus petit, qui prendra en sandwich le ventilateur de 140*38 mm. Autre chose intéressante, le ventilateur dispose d'un petit potentiomètre permettant d'obtenir une plage de 500-1200 rpm en mode normal, et attention, 2000 rpm en mode performance ! As many of you have noticed things are somewhat slow lately in everything related to PC cooling but considering most solutions we do get to see are very similar in design, size and performance this is not really surprising (nor bad really). On top of that add that we have entered the winter season and i doubt we will see anything really interesting at least for another couple of months or so (although CES is just around the corner so we may see something new announced there). Regardless of that however from time to time we do get to witness the release of unique (or dedicated as I like to call them) CPU Coolers aimed specifically at one of the various market segments (enthusiasts, overclockers, casual users, gamers, HTPC users) just like the latest NH-L9 L-Type low-profile cooler line by Noctua which is clearly aimed for HTPC use.

At the heart of this 158mm tall heatsink are four 8mm diameter copper heatpipes and a 120mm, 68CFM fan. The heatpipes are all exposed at the base while the aluminum fin stack is pretty standard; there aren't any fancy leading edges, punched out cooling fin patterns or unnecessary plastic fan shrouds. The 120mm fan rotates at 1800-1300RPM and moves upwards of 68CFM through the heatsinks' 112x130mm fin stack.
SilverStone are a renowned manufacturer of computer cases and we have reviewed a lot of their cases before. However, we've never really delved into any SilverStone CPU coolers despite the fact SilverStone have been making these for a very long time and they produce some of the best CPU coolers in the industry. SilverStone are very well known for their HTPC cases, such as the Grandia series, and as a result they also make low profile CPU coolers that can be used with these cases.
Today we have the SilverStone NT06 Pro Low Profile CPU cooler with us on the test bench (Specifications can be found here). On the face of things this is a very interesting CPU cooler. You've got 6 heat pipes, a low profile heat sink design that accepts a 120mm fan both above and below, a very nice supplied 120mm fan and a flexible mounting kit supporting all major sockets.
