With the recent attention shift to closed loop CPU water cooling, air coolers are starting to move out of the limelight. But, the fact is, good air coolers still offer features that water coolers are not able to. That is exactly what Cooler Master has done with their newest CPU air cooler, the GeminII S524. Rather then compete directly with the new behemoth coolers, the GeminII shifts its focus from simply cooling the CPU to also cooling nearby components. Read on to find out if that will be enough to keep the competition at bay.

Back to the reason we are here, the CPU cooler that almost beat me to my door. Daniel said he was going to get right on it, and he is a man of his word, obviously! This time ARCTIC is delivering a cooler that while producing better than stock results, will deliver cooling to your system with a very low noise level emanating from this cooler. On top of that, the cooler has a stylish white on black coloration on the front of natural aluminum and copper. Nothing too far from the normal scheme from ARCTIC, but I will let the test do the talking before I make any assumptions.
The newest of CPU coolers, the ARCTIC Freezer i30 and a30 coolers are built system specific. Today we will be looking at the Intel version, or the Freezer i30 model. This aluminum finned cooler with four 8mm diameter heat pipes offers direct touch to the CPU IHS with these generously sized heat pipes.

Today it’s the Cooler Master Gemin II SF524. A mixture of high performance and top down cooler. We’ve seen quite a few companies try this style of cooler and they have some real advantages such as being able to cool RAM modules or the VRM area. The disadvantage is that the heat has further to travel along the heatpipes compared to a tower style cooler. Will that affect the results? Only one way to find out.

The Freezer A30 heatsink is an updated version of the AC Freezer 13 Pro, but this time around it's shed its copper base plate for bare heatpipes and had its mounting brackets restricted to AMD processors. The Freezer A30 stands 162mm tall, is built around a familiar tower-style-exposed-heatpipe-heatsink format and weighs a hefty 905 grams. The cooler comes with a single 120mm PWM fan which is mounted to the aluminum fin stack via a muscular plastic fan shroud. No additional fans can be mounted.

The SilenX EFZ-120HA5 is a tower-style CPU cooler, with three copper heatpipes and a 120 mm fan. Let’s test it!

Today we are testing the Noctua NH-L12 CPU cooler, which has a horizontal heatsink, four heatpipes, and two fans (one 120 mm and the other 92 mm wide). Let's test it!
