We recently took a look at Gelid's current flagship CPU cooler, the Tranquillo Rev. 2. It was a good cooler seeing that it carried out Gelid's goal of being quiet in action while offering good performance with an overclocked CPU. Today we are hoping that their VGA coolers are equally good when we look at their current VGA cooling flagship, the Icy Vision Rev. 2.

Last I remember from Zalman, I was testing the CNPS10X coolers, of which there were four versions in total - two of which I got to look at personally. There was the Performa and the Extreme, both of which were typical tower based designs with a top cover and other tricks specific to the series. The cooler we are about to see takes on some of the attributes of these coolers, but harks back to the CNPS7 series of coolers for its outer appearance. You might even say both got their concept for the CNPS5, but we aren't splitting hairs here and it looks much more like the 7 series.

I always enjoy the feeling of having something soft and warm on my lap. It feels good and comfortable, but sometimes my lap gets a little bit too hot. Obviously, I was talking about my kittens, not sure where your mind went, haha. I got two new kittens a few weeks ago, and they definitely do a good job at keeping my lap warm. It is almost as if I left my laptop on my lap for a few hours -- which isn't a very typical thing for me when I am at home. However, when I'm on the go, my lap happens to be a convenient place, and I guess the whole 'lap' part of laptop really starts to show. In the past, some of my laptops seems to be a mini heater. Normally, you would expect the thought of something smoking hot in my lap being enjoyable; however, this kind of hot instead reminds me of sunburn. In my last review for the Cooler Master NotePal X-Slim, the cooler was designed to be lightweight and portable. This time, we are going to look at a different kind of portable laptop cooler. While this one isn't meant to be something you would like to carry around, it still works wonders on your lap. This brings about the next question. Is it ready to please your lap, while you are pleasing your girlfriend? (Of course, by 'pleasing', I mean talking to her on Skype or Windows Live Messenger. You guys really need to stop thinking about those other kinds of things). Well, let's take a look at what's chilling today with the Cooler Master NotePal LapAir!

Lately at APH Networks, we have been suffering from the 'Australian effect'. By the 'Australian effect', I mean stuff always somehow turns out to be upside down. I have no idea how this has been happening in almost every review, but hopefully that bug does not hit this review as well, or else we might be in trouble. Either way, all I know is that there are some things that are better left right side up than upside down. Take your computer's CPU heatsink/fan, for example: Have you ever tried installing it the wrong way? How did that turn out... if you are not in Australia? I don't think it would be too appropriate to have the fins or the fan touching the CPU, haha. Anyways, where were we again? Oh right, it is now time to talk about today's product. By now, I'm sure most users want to know what we will be taking a look at today. The product in particular comes to us from Zalman, a renowned force in the computer cooling market with many budget to enthusiast products that may be used to suit any need -- where the CNPS5X SZ is a CPU heatsink/fan advertised to be "ultra quiet" with powerful cooling performance. Let us see how well it lives up to their claim, and how it stacks up in today's market.

To be quite honest with you, the last time I used Zalman products to cool my graphics cards was back when it was the hip thing to turn the mundane X800GTO into the X850XTPE. Back then coolers were much smaller, but even so, Zalman seemed to be ahead of the game as far as what coolers offered the best bang for the buck. This is back when taking a VF700, or for a little more money, you could get the VF900 and really open the cards up in overclocking and overvolting potential. Heck, I even stripped my VF900 off the X800 and moved it over to my X1950PRO and it was more than capable for that card as well."
