Icy Dock has a wide variety of storage related products and among them are drive adapters. The sad truth is we need these devices as the PC case manufacturers have not yet made mounting of 2.5″ drives a standard. Even more saddening than that; many SSD manufactures conveniently forget to give you an adapter, which means adapters are a necessity. Add to this the growing segment of users going for lower power usage and less heat by using 5200-5400RPM 2.5″ drives in their desktops and one can see the need for adapters. Today we examine two of the many drive adapters offered by Icy Dock; with one thing in mind – utility.

Our introduction and analysis of the OCZ Vertex 450 6Gbps SSD marks the first release of the Vertex family with an Indilinx controller since 2009, a return that includes some very attractive features…including price. The OCZ Vertex 450 contains the new and improved Barefoot 3 M10 controller and follows the Vector’s lead by using OCZ in-house ASIC technology. Considering the success and performance of the Vector, one just has to wonder what makes the Vertex 450 so special.

As much as we would like to say that we wouldn’t have believed it if we hadn’t seen it, the truth is that this is one of those finds that has to be seen in operation first hand before anyone will believe it…but it was right there before our eyes. Today at Computex 2013 in Taipei, Taiwan, ADATA introduced their new line of enterprise SSDs. One SSD in particular, the ADATA SX2000, caught our eye right off. The sticker on the SX2000 depicts a capacity of 1600GB and, unlike just about every other notebook form factor SSD on the planet, the SX2000 has a PCIe 2.0 x4 interface rather than SATA. This SSD is the size of any typical drive you might see in a notebook.

Summer is perhaps the only time of the year when pretty much everyone goes on vacations and if you are like me and have more than just one cell phone, MP3/4 player, Bluetooth headset that means taking along with you a large number of AC power chargers and chances are that you will probably forget at least one of those in the process (i know i have in more than just one occasion). Kensington is a well-known brand name mainly because of the countless number of devices out there (including notebooks, LCD screens, NAS devices, HDD enclosures etc.) that feature their security slot but their product line is actually very long and also includes several gadgets that can help make your life a lot easier. One of those gadgets is their Absolute Power Dual USB Wall Charger which we have here with us today.

A ‘measuring stick’ seems to have evolved in the SSD arena where performance can be separated by the type of data being tested. Some SSDs excel in transferring compressible data while others in incompressible data, such as we might see in music, video and photography. Our report today will evaluate the new OCZ Agility 4 256GB SSD which houses the Indilinx ‘Everest 2′ platform, a platform that has been a true leader in incompressible data testing as seen in our Vertex 4 review this past April.

Last month Mach Xtreme celebrated their first anniversary. As a company starting business in the middle of a global recession, the hill is high from the start, but once you take a look at the companies Mach Xtreme is dog fighting against, the odds don't look all that good. Mach Xtreme is taking on the industry big boys, OCZ Technology, Kingston and the rest of the well known companies making SSDs, flash drives and memory modules. In order to survive, Mach Xtreme has to do things differently and that is what they have done from the starting block.

At KitGuru we review a plethora of different products but it’s not often that we look at things like optical drives which are reasonably homogeneous in design and don’t differ greatly in terms of performance.
