Hard drive capacities are expanding so fast it is easy to think, "Who actually uses a whole terabyte!?" But as storage space increases, so does the demand for fatter content. Managing even a gigabyte of files can be a cumbersome task, just imagine what it will be like to corral 1000 times that many files. "Where did that file just get saved?" To address this growing problem Hitachi Global Storage Technologies has evolved the portable hard drive by marrying the hardware with built-in content management software. Benchmark Reviews got hold of a 500 GB version of one of these new drives. Model HLSMPUA5001ABB is part of the LifeStudio Mobile Plus series and geared towards small and large storage portability. Benchmark Reviews will analyze this new breed of storage technology to see what the LifeStudio line has to offer.

External storage is a big business, look around and you’ll see all sorts of flash drives and portable hard drives for sale. People use them for everything from backups to transferring files to media uses and they all work well, but people want faster and that’s where the product I have for review today comes in. You could call it a flash drive, or a portable hard drive, but it’s actually an SSD with a USB 3.0 interface called the Enyo and it’s from OCZ Technology. The Enyo I received for review is a 64gb in size and it comes housed in an anodized aluminum casing and it’s fast, very fast. I’ve put it up against other USB 3.0 hard drives and flash drives in many tests, and if you want speed then this is what you want.

These days many consumers and enthusiasts are looking for massive storage capacities, and for more than a year the largest capacity desktop hard drive that you could buy was 2TB. All that changed today when Western Digital announced the world's first 3.0 Terabyte drive that is available for internal desktop use! Read on to see how this 3TB hard drive performs!

Kingston have impressed us recently with many of their products, especially the low cost, high performance SSDNow V100 128GB SSD drive. Today we are looking at their new external storage solution called HyperX MAX 3.0 which utilises the latest USB 3.0 superspeed interface.

Around Computex we started hearing about SandForce SF-1500 controllers being paired with SAS interfaces. At first we didn't think these products would live to see the light of day since the SATA versions were already very fast. Well, we were wrong and the first SandForce SF-1500 SAS drive is on my desk right now in engineering sample form.

If you could buy an SSD for as little as $38 (thirty-eight dollars) and I told you that the normal user would never be able to tell the difference between that $38 SSD and a top of the line SSD in normal use, would I have your attention? I thought so and I am telling you just that because this morning I installed this ST 16GB VSSD on my laptop and then went to the internet to check out a price and found it 'brand new' for only $38 at a popular auction site.

The bottom line is that the Kingston 32GB Micro SDHC card is definitely worth considering if you want to add as much storage space to your tablet PC, smart phone, or other mobile device as is physically possible. 32GB Micro SDHC cards are not all that common yet, and the Kingston unit is a leader in terms or price and speed rating.

The MUKii TransImp TIP-230U3-BK USB 3.0 drive enclosure is easy to use and simplifies the task of turning any 2.5" SATA drive into a portable device. As with other USB 3.0 devices, it is fully backwards compatible to USB 2.0; so even if you have this enclosure before you have USB 3.0 in your computer, it will still function just fine with your current USB 2.0 connections.
